Job Summary

Charles River Laboratories International, Inc. (Charles River or the Company) seeks an administrative professional to join the Legal Department working remotely with occasional presence required at its Wilmington, Massachusetts headquarters. Reporting to the Senior Legal Office Lead, the Administrative Assistant will be responsible for providing administrative support department-wide, including for the Legal Compliance Program within the Corporate Legal Department.

The successful candidate should have experience in administrative support, project management, system reporting and data analysis, be an effective communicator, and should have the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in the Legal Department. The Administrative Assistant will interact with other corporate functions and operational areas at the Company, including Human Resources, Finance, Global Technology, and other business areas. The individual in this position will assist with analyzing complex situations, develop and communicate plans of action, assist with the execution of reporting and data analysis, and handle highly confidential information and documents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide administrative support to the Legal Department.
• Serve as a Legal Department point of contact for processing all incoming department mail.
• Provide day-to-day assistance in the management of key Legal Compliance processes, including in running reports and performing data analysis.
• Support calendar management, including scheduling team meetings and other events across multiple time zones and addressing calendar conflicts.
• Review and process invoices.
• Manage sensitive Legal Department files and records.
• Be responsible for drafting and editing documents, including proofreading, editing and developing documents (e.g., PowerPoint presentations).
• Collaborate with peers on department-wide initiatives and events as needed.
• Maintain and replenish office supplies as needed.
• All other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Education
• Associate’s Degree (A.A./A.S.) at a minimum; B.A./B.S. preferred

Experience
• One to three (1-3) years of professional office experience, preferably in a corporate legal department
• Experience in a team-based organization
• Experience at a publicly-traded company and/or in life sciences or related industry sector is a plus

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (especially in PowerPoint and Excel)
• Excellent quantitative skills necessary to extract and analyze both hard and soft data
• Strong organizational and project management skills
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work product
• Ability to communicate effectively and build strong working partnerships with key stakeholders
• Analytical skills and the ability to demonstrate critical thinking
• Ability to balance and effectively prioritize numerous projects covering a variety of subject matters
• Ability to navigate diverse business, cultural, and interpersonal environments
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Demands
• Regularly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
• Must occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
• Regularly provides information to and receives information from/through various technologies, media sources, and contacts. Must be able to accurately exchange information in these situations

Compensation Data

The pay range for this position is $60,000 to $70,000. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, and location.
