Service Training Content Lead – Utility & Sundry

The Service Training Content Lead will manage the entire technical training product life cycle for the Utility & Sundry product lines for dealer service technicians and internal company personnel.

This person will manage a team environment to develop and maintain training content on the assigned products, including all support materials and course materials, for new product and current product updates, including model year changes and running changes.

The ideal candidate for this role will be based near Ames, IA, Racine, WI, New Holland, PA or Memphis, TN. This role is eligible for a HYBRID working arrangement (it is not a fully remote opportunity).

Responsibilities

  • Be the primary contact between all Parts & Service technical groups and the assigned product line management team (e.g. know the strategic product range plan, approved budget items, current/future. product offering, status of projects, manage inclusion of technical teams/members at the proper times).
  • Manage the Product Life Cycle Management spreadsheet (BETA) (includes revision cycle and update cycle).
  • Manage ordering of the new model year machines and coordinates to order new product machines within the GPD program lifecycle.
  • Identify and acquire accurate training aids for each of the facilities where training will be offered.
  • Lead creation of training content (online, instructor led, shop activity books, etc); use content developers to implement fanciness.
  • Lead annual and new product specific internal trainings (trainers/support/field); schedule it, present it; pull in resources, etc.
  • Participate in EWTs and end of season reviews for assigned product line(s).
  • Be the go-to for Technical Support and Technical Information (TI) for review and support.
  • Review new/MY TI document changes for functional data, schematic, etc; someone has the actual time to review manuals for content accuracy BEFORE release.
  • Lead the development of Dynamic Descriptions to be published within service manuals and used for technical training; coordinate with the Tech Info project manager.
  • Lead the creation of colored, dynamic, electrical/hydraulic drawings or animations to support dynamic descriptions to be used within SM for training purposes; supported by TI and training developers.
  • Assist Product Tech Specialists and Technical Support on ambitious cases; including field support as approved.
  • Support Technical Training and Technical Support with high level systems and tools.
  • Participate in technical training classes to continue development of product knowledge and delivery quality.
  • Obtain and distribute (to all necessary teams) an accurate Model Year 3D model of assigned product lines, where available, for use in daily functions.

The salary range for this position will fall between $76,000 and $109,000 annually. (Actual salary offered will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role.)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree with at least five (5) years of experience in engineering, technology, automotive, agricultural and/or construction equipment fields; OR
  • Associate’s degree with at least eight (8) years of experience in areas outlined above; OR
  • High School Diploma with at least ten (10) years of experience in areas outlined above
  • At least one (1) year of customer support experience
  • Ability to travel up to 20%

The preferred candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working with Utility & Sundry equipment
  • Multi-department experience (i.e. technical publications, product support, technical support, product management, etc.)
  • Experience creating Technical Information for mobile equipment
  • Knowledge of Precision Agriculture Applications and Diesel Engine Emissions Systems.
  • Knowledge or experience with Adult Learning Methodology and Distance Learning
  • At least 2 years of technical training experience in the automotive, agricultural, or construction industry, preferably on assigned product.
  • At least 2 years of training development experience using various development tools (i.e. Storyline, Adobe, Power Point, etc.
  • Excellent written and presentation skills as well as comprehensive computer skills
  • Technical experience relating to diagnostics of mechanical, electrical (12 or 24 volt DC), and fluid power systems (hydraulic/pneumatic)
  • Highly developed ability to articulate how technical systems work to others with varying levels of experienced dealer technician
