JOB SUMMARY
The Clinical Supervisor assists with the clinical leadership and management of mental health services provided through Gads Hill Center’s education and development programs for children and adolescents. These services are primarily implemented within a public school-based setting in the west and southwest sides of Chicago. In this role, the Clinical Supervisor will supervise a team of Mental Health Interns and Clinicians while managing their own caseload of children and youth; ultimately, they are responsible for the provision of high-quality clinical services for program participants. The Clinical Supervisor assists the Associate Director of Mental Health with the coordination of clinical services and related administrative activities within GHC’s multidisciplinary programs to achieve highly effective, efficient, and culturally relevant service delivery. Finally, the Clinical Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Associate Director of Mental Health with quality assurance, compliance, fiscal accountability, training, staff development, and client and stakeholder relationships on behalf of the Mental Health Department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Management

  1. Assists the Associate Director of Mental Health in the implementation of new programs and services.
  2. Provides leadership in the areas of clinical and educational services, program evaluation, program development and training.
  3. Maintains a high quality of service and high standards for program design, staff development, and therapeutic services provided to clients.
  4. Maintains advanced working knowledge of childhood education, development practices, standards, and principles of applied behavioral analysis.
  5. Maintains advanced working knowledge of current trends and developments in the child development field.
  6. Monitors contract compliance with specific funders and provides reports as requested.
  7. Assists with maintaining the program’s fiscal viability and productivity standards.
  8. Works alongside the Associate Director of Mental Health to market the Agency’s services to the community and maintains positive public relations with stakeholders.
  9. Ensures compliance with agency program and funding service delivery requirements by working with development team and quality improvement staff.
  10. Manages relationships with key partners and external stakeholders to promote Gads Hill Center’s counseling and Mental Health expertise.

Supervision and Training of Clinical team and interns

  1. Oversees the recruitment, hiring, training, and supervision of interns as needed.
  2. Assists in clinical supervision for all unlicensed and non-independently licensed clinical staff in compliance with the standards of city, county, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
  3. Assists in training clinicians and other program personnel as necessary in treatment protocols, methods, diagnostic, biopsychosocial assessment, interpretation, and formulation.
  4. Assists in training staff on clinical intervention strategies, treatment planning, and screenings to ensure quality mental health service delivery.
  5. Reviews and provides input to treatment or service plans for the youth and children being treated by assigned clinical staff during regular individual case consultations.
  6. Provides supervision in development, planning and progress of assigned caseload.

Clinical Service Delivery

  1. Carries a caseload, rendering direct services to clients.
  2. Plans, coordinates, and implements treatment services and other clinical activities for identified clients, while being cognizant of cultural, ethnic, and environmental differences, to achieve highly effective, efficient and culturally competent service delivery to children and families.
  3. Provides therapy for children/youth in individual, group, or family therapy as needed by our programs.
  4. Engages in crisis intervention with clients/family members, including the development and implementation of safety plans.
  5. Performs record keeping functions and other administrative duties as required by the agency.
  6. Is available “on-call” for crisis intervention consultation for all programs at Gads Hill Center.

In addition to the responsibilities listed above, all Gads Hill Center employees are responsible for the following:

  1. Participating in agency outreach and recruitment events, including evenings and weekends.
  2. Participating in supervision meetings and workshops within the agency and outside (if applicable).
  3. Participating in civic engagement activities that advance the mission of Gads Hill Center.
  4. Advancing parent leadership development.
  5. Performing other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field required.
  2. Must also be LCSW, LCPC or LMFT, licensed in Illinois, plus have four years of clinical experience. Or on track towards licensure
  3. Clinical supervisory experience, prior experience in leadership or management capacity a plus.
  4. Experience working in school-based programs required.
  5. Experience and ability to work with high-risk children and adolescents required.
  6. Must be fluent in English and Spanish.
  7. Must have valid Illinois driver’s license, car, and auto insurance.

Knowledge of:

  1. Mental health, human services, and provider systems
  2. Child and adolescent development/needs/behavior
  3. Individual, group and family therapy methods
  4. Child and/or adult psychopathology and the DSM-IV/DSM-5
  5. Motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy
  6. Culturally competent approaches to mental health service delivery

Demonstrated skills:

  1. Strong organizational, time management, and documentation skills.
  2. Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team to organize tasks, problem solve, and make sound decisions while handling multiple priorities.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills demonstrated by the ability to communicate effectively and foster positive relationships with parents, children, clinical staff, providers, and community referral representatives.
  4. Ability to translate the latest evidence-based models into practical counseling and therapy skills.
  5. Excellent supervisory skills including team building and coaching skills; the ability to lead, encourage and train staff; and the ability to organize, facilitate, and lead clinical staff meetings.
  6. Demonstrated awareness of, sensitivity to, and competence in dealing with cultural and socioeconomic diversity of client population.
