Job Description
Our client, one of the nation’s largest recycling and waste-management companies, is looking for an experienced Senior Director of HR to join their growing HR team! The Senior Director of HR will lead a team of eight HR professionals and drive organizational effectiveness, lead change management and deliver talent effectiveness programs.
This Senior Director of HR will be supporting over 2,200 employees across 9 states and will partner with regional and local management to drive change initiatives. This is a permanent, direct hire position that is onsite five days a week in Maywood, IL, with local travel 30% of the time, and overnight travel up to 30% of the time.
Senior Director of HR Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach and mentor a team of Regional HR Business Partners across multiple states
- Act as a change agent, driving change initiatives across the organization to achieve strategic business objectives
- Analyze business trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs and policies to improve HR’s contribution to the organization
- Lead the development and maintenance of a talent strategy and performance-based culture for teams by communicating, teaching, influencing and supporting the execution of consistent processes around performance management, talent assessment, succession planning and recognition
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders; align and develop people solutions that are aligned with business priorities, needs and strategy
- Lead and execute HR related projects/initiatives in partnership with HR Business Partners and other people leaders to support organizational and individual development
- Provide thought leadership and subject matter expertise on efforts (projects, committees and task forces) that support human resources initiatives in order to influence outcomes
- Leverage data and insights to positively impact the employee experience and deliver the right business results
- Implement and execute plans to complement the business unit’s strategic operating plan; champion the execution of tactical initiatives within each business unit to maximize the employee experience, growth and scalability, while optimizing profitability
- Develop and drive retention efforts to ensure we are retaining top talent
- Lead all matters related to DEI; d rive and promote ESG and DEI goals
- Partner with assigned leaders to design, develop and implement strategies that will attract, engage, develop and retain top-talent
- Create, promote and maintain a culture that delivers excellent employee experiences and supports positive work environments
Senior Director of HR Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and/or MBA in business administration, HR or related field
- 3 years of management experience leading HR professionals
- 7+ years of Human Resources experience; 5+ years in a generalist capacity
- Deep employee relations skills and demonstrated experience working with field based hourly issues
- 3+ years of multi-site accountability supporting both nonunion and union employees
- SHRM-CP/PHR or SHRM-SCP/SPHR preferred
- Critical thinking, problem-solving and evaluation skills
- Experience building policies, HR tools and mentoring junior talent
