Job Duties

Under the supervision of the physical therapist, provides for patient needs, modalities, therapeutic exercises, rehabilitative therapy, and the use of orthopedic/adaptive equipment

Assist physical therapists in providing physical therapy treatments and procedures

Assists with carrying out treatment plans and routine functions, modifies treatment plans and documents the progress of treatment within the scope of treatment plans established by a physical therapist

This is a wage position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12 month period of May 1 – April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This wage position offers no state benefits.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited physical therapy assistant program. Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant in the state of Virginia.

Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to improve the patient’s quality of life, and comply with all applicable laws

Additional Considerations

Experience working in a VADOC medical correctional setting

Experience in working in outpatient orthopedic setting

Demonstrated skill documenting patient health and progress
