Job Description
The Department of Computer Science at Virginia Tech is seeking a Student Support and Enrollment Specialist. This position will work closely and collaboratively with stakeholders within the Department, College of Engineering, and Registrar’s Office to lead and support enrollment processing, and student support including academic advising for all students enrolled in minor programs under the Department of Computer Science.
The major areas of responsibility for this role include: Enrollment Processing (40%); Academic Advising and Student Support (35%); Data Request and Analysis (15%); Professional Development (5%); Administration and General Undergraduate Program Support & Other Duties as Assigned (5%). As this position is partially student-facing, it will be housed at the Blacksburg campus with opportunity for hybrid work schedule with in-person and remote days.

Required Qualifications
Associates degree or equivalent experience in course scheduling, enrollment services, or student academic support.
Demonstrated computer and data processing skills including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, calendaring and email.
Demonstrated well-developed organizational, written, analytical, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks and follow through to completion with strict attention to detail.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, including remote work, yet function collaboratively as a member of a dynamic team.
Demonstrated experience working effectively with a diverse population, with sensitivity to cultural and ethnic differences, including students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, and prospective students and their families.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in an academic environment.
Working knowledge of various university policies and procedures related to academic programs and student support services.
Knowledge, and familiarity with applications (Banner, Navigate, Canva, Microsoft Office, Google Suite etc.).
Demonstrated experience managing, analyzing, and using extensive data.
In addition to the above required qualifications, the successful candidate should have a demonstrated history of collaboration and the ability to be a collegial departmental, college, and university members.
