Description
The Director, Arts and Hospitality position is a full-time, 12-month professional position. This position is responsible for assisting the Dean of Arts and Hospitality with operational oversight of the departments in the Division of Arts and Hospitality: Business, Culinary, Education, Hospitality and Ecotourism, and Associate of Arts Degree (Letters, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Arts). The position requires a wide variety of experience, skills, and knowledge of higher education. This position maintains a 37.5-hour week and reports directly to the Dean of Arts and Hospitality.
Examples of Duties
1. Provides leadership for the ongoing development of the Arts and Hospitality Division.
2. Assists the Dean with administrative oversight for all departments within the Division.
3. Responsible for the supervision and recruitment of all part-time faculty, staff, and volunteers within the respective departments of the Division.
4. Works with the Dean and faculty to prepare Annual Unit Plans, Program Assessments, and Departmental Program reviews.
5. Works to prepare recommendations for hiring new adjuncts each term, and contractors and volunteers.
6. Assists with student academic advising following college policy and procedures.
7. Assists the Dean in maintaining and revising education plans as necessary.
8. Works to schedule and manage enrollment of regularly scheduled classes within the Division.
9. Works closely with the Dean, departmental advisory committees and faculty in review, revision, and development of Department curriculum at the course and program level and prepares recommendations for modification if needed.
10. Assists with externally funded projects within the division as necessary.
11. Provide academic information for College publications, annual reports, and other documents as required by the Dean.
12. Assists faculty and students’ concerns and grievances within the Division with guidance from the Office of Talent Acquisition, Development, and Accountability (TADA) while keeping the Dean abreast of the situation.
13. Assists in all college recruitment and retention efforts as appropriate.
14. Participates in institutional and divisional committees as required.
15. Provide administrative oversight of the College’s education programs, including reporting and meeting statutory requirements.
16. Participates in professional development opportunities as appropriate.
17. Networks in the local, regional, and international professional communities.
18. Assists in implementing College policies and achieving College goals according to College philosophy and procedures.
19. Participate in efforts, activities, and responsibilities within the Academic Affairs Division concerning accreditation and reaffirmation.
20. Required to attend convocation and commencement ceremonies.
21. Other duties as assigned by the Dean.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree required.
  • Three (3) years managerial work experience required.
  • Three (3) years teaching experience at the community college level or higher is preferred.
  • Three (3) years of experience in exceptional student education is preferred.

FLORIDA RETIREMENT SYSTEM – Full-time and regular part-time employees participate in the Florida Retirement System (FRS). The College contributes the current retirement percentage of the individual’s salary, and the employee would contribute the current retirement percentage based on their salary. Employees may choose the Pension Plan or the Investment Plan.

PAID TUITION – Tuition fees for credit courses taken at the College are waived for employees and their eligible dependents, including domestic partners. Tuition and student fees are waived for non-credit physical education courses. Contingent upon approval, $1,000 reimbursement is available each fiscal year through Staff & Program Development (S&PD), for completion of course work toward a degree which results in demonstrated benefit to the College.
