An Excellent Opportunity

We are looking for a Volunteer Development Specialist who can help us support adult volunteers through promotion of and assistance with awards and official recognition of volunteerism at the local and council-wide levels. They also work collaboratively with the Adult Volunteer Development team to support volunteers with their questions regarding training and resources needed for their volunteer positions. This specialist’s work will impact adults who are changing future generations of Girl Scouts!

Here’s What You Will Be Doing

  • Oversee volunteer committees who nominate, review, and approve applications for adult recognition awards for volunteerism.
  • Plan and execute three major volunteer appreciation and recognition events.
  • Prepare organized and structured presentations for events, meetings, and trainings regarding volunteer appreciation.
  • Work in various databases and online platforms to process volunteer information.
  • Support the department’s global efforts by attending meetings, responding to volunteers’ questions, and editing publications used to guide volunteer work.

Is this you?

  • Experienced working with volunteers
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Give close attention to the finest of details and adhere to deadlines
  • Understanding of organizational development and group dynamics would be useful
  • Great written and oral communication skills, including public presentations
  • Self-motivated and efficient with strong time-management skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office; familiarity with Salesforce and Access is a plus
  • Appropriately handles a wide range of sensitive and confidential issues
  • Ability to maintain a varied work schedule including occasional evenings and weekends
  • Have access to automobile for occasional travel
  • Experience in Girl Scouting, especially as an adult volunteer, a plus
