Position Description
The Restorative Arts Coordinator will work with the Racial Equity & Restorative Arts Manager to support the operations, development and expansion of Racial Equity and Restorative Arts programs for the agency.

Typical Duties

  • Coordinates Nashville and Tennessee’s Native American Communities with a commitment to supporting these indigenous communities from a Restorative Arts framework.
  • Evaluates how the impact of funding and programs serve all communities to engage in the arts with specific attention to previously underserved communities in Nashville.
  • Supports and coordinates the logistical operations, development and expansion of existing and new agency-led Racial Equity, Restorative Arts and Youth Development programs; including but not limited to: Racial Equity in Arts Leadership (REAL), Restorative Arts, Opportunity Now (or other youth employment initiatives) and Community Arts Leaders of Nashville internship programs (or other development programs).
  • Collaboratively supports the administration for the Committee for Antiracism and Equity (CARE) of the Arts Commission.
  • Coordinates artist and arts organizations in conjunction with Juvenile Justice Center (JJC) staff.
  • Coordinates the Selection Process, Meetings and Trainings for artists and/or organizations for various restorative arts programs.
  • Coordinates calls for proposals and panelist review processes.
  • Coordinates trainings for arts providers.
  • Collects data and assessment materials on an ongoing basis.
  • Assists with analyzing data and producing program impact summaries and reports with the assistance of support staff and the Grants Manager.
  • Assists with gathering and developing appropriate public communications about the program for social media, e-newsletters and annual reports for arts commission, city council, and the public in coordination with Metro Arts communication staff.
  • Collaborates on opportunity and capacity analysis and makes recommendations on resource allocations.

Minimum Qualifications
Employees would typically have a Bachelor’s Degree plus considerable (3-4 years) professional experience in restorative practice or racial equity programs, arts administration, public policy, or a related field.

  • Experience with structured organizations, such as governments, universities, or large organizations
  • Project management skills, including producing, tracking and managing multiple deliverables with overlapping deadlines
  • Experience building collaborative and productive relationships with community members, institutions, and organizations, particularly with communities of color, immigrant and refugee communities and other historically marginalized communities
  • Experience managing calls for proposals in systems such as Submittable
