EFAP COORDINATOR

The Community Food Connection (CFC) seeks to improve the nutritional status of low-income New Yorkers by (1) providing food and funding to approximately 600 emergency food programs (food pantries and community kitchens); (2) facilitating and monitoring SNAP outreach throughout the emergency food network; (3) monitoring and managing SNAP outreach services provided by contracted vendors; and (4) promoting food support benefits. The Community Food Connection (CFC), the primary component of CFC, annually purchases and distributes over seventeen million pounds of food, totaling approximately $48,000,000, and provides administrative funding to soup kitchens and food pantries.

Under the direction of the Director of Community Food Connection, with latitude for independent judgment, is responsible for the effective operation, including coordination, monitoring, and evaluation of the Community Food Connection.

The Community Coordinator specific duties and responsibilities will consist of:
• Supervises CFC Community Associates that are responsible for the monitoring and evaluation of food pantries and community kitchens throughout NYC.
• Provides supervision and technical assistance to subordinate staff in procedures of program implementation and management.
• Monitors the staff schedules and visits to food distribution sites in order to ensure compliance with program requirements.
• Identifies areas of training needs or specialized technical assistance based on statistical reports and observation of provider operations.
• Provides recommendations on future food purchases based on reports from program monitors and information received from participating food programs.
• Assists with the review and evaluation of applications for potential participation in the CFC and assists in the agen.cy selection process.
• Represents CFC at meetings with community groups and disseminate relevant information to interested participants.
• Prepares surveys, evaluations, reports, and summaries that detail NYC emergency food network feedback and activity.

Minimum Qual Requirements

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” or “2” above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in “1” above.
