Education/Certification

Master’s degree in educational evaluation

Valid Texas Educational Diagnostician Certificate and/or

Special Knowledge/Skills

Knowledge of diagnostic procedures, education of special education students

Knowledge of state and federal laws

Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Evaluation

  • Receive student referrals and review for fidelity
  • Select and administer formal and informal evaluations to determine student eligibility for special education services according to federal and state regulations.
  • Write comprehensive reports with parent friendly language and in-depth recommendations for student success
  • Participate in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee to interpret evaluation data. Make recommendations for appropriate placement and development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)

Consultation

  • Provide staff development training as requested to assist school personnel in identification of students with disabilities as well as understanding of specific disabilities
  • Assist classroom teachers with implementation of IEP.
  • Consult with parents concerning the educational needs of students and interpretation of evaluation data.
  • Assist in the selection of evaluation materials and equipment.
  • Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of the evaluation program and make recommendations based on findings.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required. Observe all retention regulations
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in the areas of evaluation, placement, and planning for special education services.
  • Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignment.
  • Support the organizational needs of the Special Education department

  • Maintain a positive and effective relationship with supervisors
  • Effectively communicate with colleagues, students, and parents.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

  • Maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Travel to multiple Dallas/Ft Worth locations as needed
