Job Description:

Develops Software
The candidate will develop data-driven health and medical related software and systems. The candidate will formulate and define system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding to develop or modify complex information systems. The candidate will prepare detailed specifications from which programs will be written.. The candidate will assist with recommendations towards the development of new code/data/reports or reuse/enhancement of existing. The candidate will assess design options, design technical requirements for applications, identify and analyze problems, test and debug code.

Manages Systems
The candidate will apply security methodologies in management of systems. The candidate will design, develop, test, and document systems with minimal guidance from the supervisor or project manager. The candidate will use source control management and configuration management tools to document and standardize systems management. The candidate will troubleshoot applications, maintain installed systems, produce and maintain documentation, and conduct application quality assurance. The candidate will analyze and revise existing system logic difficulties and documentation. The candidate will be responsible for software integration, external interface development and technical documentation.

Data Management
The candidate will assist with recommendations towards the development of new code/data/reports or reuse/enhancement of existing data. The candidate will perform data maintenance on customer data sets. This will include data maintenance and performance optimization. The candidate should expect to work with systems such as MS SQL Server, MySQL, and/or Oracle. The candidate may be required to work with semantic query language, semantic data stores, and the databases that support them.
Server Management and Issue Solving 10%
Utilize knowledge of Linux systems to manage servers and resolve and issues that may arise.

Leadership
Must be able to function in a leadership position and provide support to the junior developers. The candidate must be able to collaborate and interact with fellow team members. They must be able to present their work before team members in biweekly meetings. They should be able to explain design concepts and software techniques. They will help train new team members. Team leads will be expected to lead small workgroups of fellow engineers.

Expected Salary:

$65,000 – $75,000

Minimum Requirements:

Associate’s degree and two years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to work within Linux or Mac operating systems
Proven track record of architecting and deploying software solutions
Ability to plan, test, and execute software and system upgrades
Excellent communication skills, with both technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to work as part of a technical team, collaborating and sharing work
Willingness to do the work necessary to meet deadlines
Three years of professional experience in software development, familiarity with Python, PHP, Java, or JavaScript frameworks and experience with at least one source control system.
Experience with newer technologies such as SPARQL, Semantic Data stores, and NoSQL.
Experience with Tomcat and Debian-based systems.
Experience working within a development team.
