Job Description:
Primarily operates a 15-passenger vehicle for the Student Nighttime Auxiliary Patrol (SNAP)
• Provides safe, timely on-demand transportation for University students to UF-owned and campus locations.
• Responsible for keeping the vehicle clean, reporting maintenance issues to supervisor and assisting with vehicle service as needed, keeping records of all trips, date, time and locations.
• Utilizes University equipment such as radios, tablets, flashlights, etc. during the course of normal duties and is responsible for maintaining and returning all equipment in good condition.
• Responsible for remaining in constant communication with SNAP Dispatch and following SNAP rules and policies at all times while on duty.
Work schedule for this position is Tuesday through Saturday, 6:15pm to 3:15am with an hour for meal time.
Utilizes ADA-accessible University vehicles, such as the I-Van ramp-equipped minivan, Gator Lift vehicles, etc. to transport disabled students to UF-owned and campus locations as needed for SNAP service and Gator Lift nighttime support.
Remains on call at all times while on duty to receive and handle ADA-accessible UF Safe Rides ride requests. Utilizes ADA-accessible University vehicles, such as the I-Van ramp-equipped minivan, Gator Lift vehicles, etc. to fulfill UF Safe Rides requests and transport disabled students as needed within the current UF Safe Rides service zone.
Acts as substitute driver duties for daytime services as needed, primary driver duties for special event transportation, and other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Expected Salary:
$15.75 hourly
Minimum Requirements:
Completion of the ninth grade and possession of a valid Class E driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Prefer Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class C or higher
• Prefer high school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge and skill in operating various types of motor vehicles and safely maintaining and operating 15 passenger vehicles.
• Knowledge and skill in providing ADA-accessible transportation, operating wheelchair ramps and hydraulic lifts, and use and application of in-vehicle wheelchair restraints and seat belts.
• Ability to read and follow both written and verbal instructions, communicate effectively, and remain on schedule in the field providing timely on-demand transportation with varying degrees of supervision.
• Ability to keep records and travel logs, use push-to-talk radios, tablets, computers and associated scheduling apps.
Special Instructions to Applicants:
This position involves:
• Frequent light reaching above the shoulders, lifting, kneeling, repeated bending, in the activity of daily monitoring of vehicles.
• This position must exercise exemplary customer relations skills, work ethic and the ability to remain on schedule with limited supervision.
• Regular duties will also include assisting passengers with boarding vehicles, safe use of wheelchair ramps or hydraulic lifts, and correct utilization and securing of on-board wheelchair restraints and seatbelts.
