The Greenfield Land Specialist, will originate, negotiate, and structure lease agreements for the ENGIE Distributed Solar and Storage (DSS) business in the United States. This position will build and manage relationships with landowners and/or their representatives and source new leasing/development opportunities. This role is ideal for an ambitious and creative individual looking to source and lead Greenfield efforts as the ENGIE DSS business rapidly expands its pipeline.
This position can sit in Houston, TX, Chicago, IL or any other ENGIE North America office, and will report to the Sr. Project Developer – DSS Land Origination & Strategy. This position is open to a hybrid schedule of both in-office and work-from-home.
What you’ll do:
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the terms and conditions of the Company’s land agreements
- Coordinate with the DSS Development and Legal Teams and external title companies to identify title curative issues and to support execution of curative documents with landowners, mineral owners, and third parties, as needed
- Assist in overseeing third party land contractors and consultants
- Become familiar with applicable federal, state, or local regulations as they relate to the development of renewable projects
- Manage deadlines, multiple project objectives, project timelines and success criteria relating to the projects
- Utilize digital tools and software to track progress and maintain organized records
- Seek ways to improve efficiency of land contract procedures and policies
- Grow and maintain Distributed Solar & Storage Greenfield pipeline
- Collaborate with Regional Development Teams to implement Greenfield Land Campaigns, including identification of landowners within prospective sites, initiating contact and meeting with individual landowners, communicating the value proposition of working with ENGIE, and negotiating contracts with landowners and/or landowner representative for participation in proposed renewable energy projects
- Review Real Estate Title Documents and assist with ALTA Survey review and Title Curative matters
- Track progress on various trackers and in Engie North America and DSS Databases
What you’ll bring:
- A minimum of a four (4) year degree from an accredited college or university or proven equivalent experience required
- Real Estate Paralegal strongly preferred
- A minimum of five (5) years Real Estate Related experience of which a minimum of three (3) year in Renewable Energy
- Comprehensive understanding of all Real Estate matters with emphasis on Leasing, Title and Title Curative
- Strong communication skills, self-motivated and exceptional organizational skills required
- Highly Proficient with Microsoft 365 and typical business applications; Expert Excel skills required
- Exceptional data entry skills
- Team First Attitude with the ability and willingness to shift focus quickly and efficiently between varying high priority tasks
- Conscientious and detail oriented
- High degree of creative problem-solving acumen, especially in the context of real estate transactions and energy development
- Comfortable resolving and settling challenging commercial disagreements – always poised and professional with internal and external stakeholders
- Understanding and knowledge of common real estate issues and terminology
- Experience negotiating land contracts (lease options, purchase options, easements) and understanding of typical landowner concerns. Experience negotiating land contracts for renewable energy use a plus
- Results-oriented and motivated professional with the ability to work independently within a large matrixed organization while effectively interfacing with the various cross-functional employee groups
- Ability to thrive in quickly changing environment and manage multiple high-stakes transactions simultaneously
- Superior verbal and written communication skills and high level of attention to detail with the ability to present to a wide range of audiences, including third party developers, landowners, potential off takers, government officials, and corporate leaders
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint; CRM tools a plus
- Travel up to 25%

- Ability to meet highest attendance requirements and handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to use company issued computer and travel to conduct site visits
- Capable of using proper lifting procedures or equipment usage needed when involved in lifting up to 50 lbs

- Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
