Summary:
The Sr. Project Accountant is a lead position providing Project Accounting and Job-costing support to Project teams for RES T&D construction while also driving process improvement and assisting in the development of the project accountants.
Responsibilities include project-specific accounting functions. Invoice analysis and preparation, project financial reporting and documentation, researching and resolving cost anomalies and discrepancies, ensuring proper supporting documentation for all project costs, monthly forecasting, P&L reporting, revenue management, cash flows, and interface with corporate Finance & Accounting teams.
Requirements:
- Leads the development of project accounting best practices to support improved interface between FP&A, Accounting, and Procurement departments.
- Leads team of project accountants, supporting their training and growth within the department.
- Assists in developing, reviewing, and transferring project budgets. Provides initial cost per unit analysis prior to transfer.
- Develops Schedule of Values and Pay Applications per contract terms with Project Managers; provides draft SOV with actual % completes, provides input by comparing to under/over billing, revenue loaded schedules, and reviews against projected billing to ensure positive cash flow.
- Handles Accounts Receivable reporting and collection.
- Conducts final job audits and commitment close outs.
- Creates and manage conditional and unconditional lien waivers for client, suppliers, and subcontractors. Review unconditional lien waivers for project accountant team.
- Handles Job Cost analysis including review of actual costs against EV, Forecast, and budgets to provide informed feedback on cost allocation and productivity.
- Informs feedback to operation and construction management
- Reviews and manages input of productions quantities and provide analysis of labor and equipment earned value to project team on cost report review meetings.
- Administers sales tax processes pertinent to assigned projects.
- Administers management of subcontracts and client contracts.
- Assists in client change management
- Manages sub-contractors’ change management process
- Manages sub-contractor pay packages on a monthly basis
- Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
- Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies & Procedures.
- Presents, supports, and leads-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.
- Facilitates bond process.
- Manages project invoice accruals/reversals on weekly basis.
- Facilitates prevailing wage reporting and requirements when necessary.
- Assists in monthly forecast reporting; Estimate to Complete report support and analysis. Provides project team input on forecasts using project schedule, EVA, and actual cost per unit comparison.
- Assists project team with change order documentation and/or preparation.
- Manages Risk/Ops register
- Assists the QA/QC by providing cost estimates for NCRs/rework and capturing actuals.
- Assists team in process documentation.
- Participates in project kick-off and closeout meetings; provide support to project team in preparing cost information.
- Supports project team in use of Procore financial tools.
- Supports project claim and settlement efforts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or engineering-related field OR equivalent (3 years of experience), required
- 3 or more years’ experience in accounting, finance, project controls, or project management, required
- 3 or more years’ experience in construction, preferred
- 3 or more years’ experience in earned value analysis, preferred
- Competencies in attention to detail, communication, demonstrating active care, teamwork, and collaboration
- Ability to travel domestically 5 to 15%
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Intermediate Excel knowledge including the use of pivot tables, as well as charts, graphs, and bars, VLOOKUP, COUNTIF, SUMIF, filtering information to provide quality data, creating macros to automate common tasks, managing large amounts of data.
- Experience with SAGE software, Procore, or ERP or Reporting Systems a plus.
- Strong analytical ability.
- Advanced understanding of earned value reporting and forecasting.
- Ability to manage tight deadlines and handle multiple complex tasks in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Strong leaderships skills.
- Ability to collaborate across various departments with various business levels.
Anticipated base salary range: $76,000 – $89,000
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
