Veterinary Diagnostic Lab Client Services Liaison (CARE)
Job Description:
In support of the daily operations for the diagnostic laboratory services, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
Customer Service 30%: Assist students/staff/clients with sample submissions for multiple labs, assist with & correct submission errors, answer multiple line phone system, contact outside clinics regarding sample submission via phone and/or email. Accounting support (AR/AP), invoicing, payment processing, invoice reconciliation for multiple lab sections. Managing multiple clients throughout shift.
Sample Delivery 30%: Verifying sample submission information is correct and transporting samples to the appropriate lab.
Internal Sample Submissions: Receive, verify proper paperwork submitted, verify samples properly labeled, deliver samples to appropriate lab.
External Sample Submissions: Open large quantity of packages containing lab samples (mail/courier deliveries), verify paperwork & account for samples submitted from outside submitters, check for sample viability, create Cornerstone account as needed, accession & deliver to appropriate lab. Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas. Accurately identify and label specimens.
Clerical Support & Transcription Support 30%: Data entry, log in samples, scanning & uploading records, set up formats, transcription and distribution of reports, electronic records distribution (fax, email, etc.), order & inventory office supplies.
Lab Support 05%: Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities. Maintains lab cleanliness by properly removing biohazard waste and disinfecting bench tops. Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing. Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples.
Expected Salary:
$15.00 – $17.00 / hourly
Minimum Requirements:
Associate’s degree and one year of relevant experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and two years or clerical, business office and customer service experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Possess excellent reading, spelling and typing skill which are necessary to efficiently and accurately input laboratory results and scientific/medical terminology into computer reporting formats from the written word.
• Proficiency with computers and computer programs (Microsoft Office, Cornerstone, SharePoint, etc.)
• Ability to verbally communicate effectively with emphasis on phone skills/etiquette. Strong customer service skills are essential for this position.
• Ability to respond to multiple requests in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure and professionalism.
• Possess organizational and time management skills needed to prioritize and complete daily tasks on schedule.
• Must be detailed oriented with the ability to follow written instructions as set in Work Instruction & SOP manuals and in data reporting.
• Must be detailed oriented with the ability to follow verbal instructions such as when learning new administrative skills and new skills specific to new department & laboratory protocols.
• Familiarity with billing practices (accounts payable, debt collection, accounts receivable) and budget related terminology.
• Skilled in maintaining & troubleshooting office equipment. Ability to request the repair of office equipment through the appropriate resources.
• Must possess the ability to maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, clinicians, students and
clients.
• Must be able to maintain a positive attitude at work and communicate with coworkers effectively and in a
respectful manner.
• Must be able to willingly accept constructive criticism from supervisors, senior staff & clinicians.
• Will not engage in public derogatory/disparaging discussions regarding coworkers, referring veterinarians,
clinicians or students.
• Must be able to follow appropriate chain of command.
