Pratt Institute seeks an exceptional K-12 arts administrator, who will be a key contributor to the Center’s K-12 programs, partnerships, and education resources. Working in a high-traffic office, the Program Assistant-Communications and Special Events is committed to the Center K-12 mission, and works to provide administrative support to all aspects of the organization and implementation of the K-12 programs, which includes but is not limited to supporting social media platforms, organizing program events and exhibitions, data collection and survey distribution, building and sustaining community partnerships including visiting schools for recruiting purposes, supporting student Fellows and/or instructors, assisting with the management of K-12 education resources and supplies, and maintaining records and contracts. This position will also work closely with and supervise student employees.

This is a permanent full-time position. The work schedule is Tuesday – Saturday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Hybrid work is acceptable.
On a typical day, you will be required to:
- Ensure smooth running of daily office operations by assisting walk-ins, generating and editing correspondence, overseeing the production and publication of Center K-12 printed materials, maintaining the Center K-12 social media presence, planning and coordinating special events such as graduation ceremonies and alumni events, organizing and maintaining detailed records
- Respond to, understand, and accommodate the needs of different program participants, which include: undergraduate and graduate students, children participants, families, schools, and Pratt administrators and offer assistance as needed
- Facilitate meetings and orientations with Pratt student teachers; hire student Fellows, perform classroom and site visits as directed, observe teaching assistants, and offer feedback

SALARY is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. The salary range for this position is $42,000-$47,900.

Qualifications
Education: BA or BFA or equivalent required
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of communications experience in arts education, including work with schools, community programs, museums or non-profits. K-12 art and design teaching experience in NYC is a plus.
- Must be available to work some evenings and Saturdays when programs are in session.
- Commitment to positive youth development and asset-based frameworks is required.
Skills & Knowledge:
TECHNICAL: Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Drive applications, Adobe Creative Suite, experience with main social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter), and self-sufficient in learning new skills. Familiarity with Filemaker is a plus.
COMMUNICATIONS: Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are required, as well as public speaking and customer service skills (both in person and over the phone), particularly with arts education professionals, school administrators, teachers, and youth of all ages; displaying tact and courtesy; maintaining confidentiality. Strong collaborator is able to build positive, collaborative working relationships with Pratt staff, school teachers, administrators, and a diverse range of young people. Being bilingual is a plus. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population of students and staff and demonstrate intercultural competence with an understanding of the dynamics of diversity in higher education.
