Energy Management
Energy Management oversees MU’s district-energy system, which provides utility services to more than 15 million square feet of facilities including hospitals and clinics, a research reactor, research facilities, laboratories, academic buildings, residential halls, dining facilities, recreational and athletic facilities, computing centers and administrative buildings. Utility services include steam, electricity, drinking water, chilled water, utility distribution, insulation services, energy automation and commissioning, energy conservation, and off-campus utility coordination.
The University of Missouri (MU) was recognized in 2017 as a national leader in the development and use of renewable energy by EPA’s Green Power Partnership.The MU campus now uses 40% of its energy from a renewable portfolio of biomass, wind and solar!
Job Description
The primary role of this position is to enhance the various process controls systems and data systems to develop tools and applications for management/operation oversight and utility system optimization.
Provides professional engineering services to meet client requests/needs and to manage the day-to-day activities of other project team members.
Performs a variety of assignments and analyses that impact the Engineering Construction & Design function.
Analyzes, reviews and designs construction plans, specifications, and equipment as needed.
Solves routine to complex problems and provides solutions, recommendations, etc.
Analyzes potential solutions using experience, judgments and precedence, providing input and recommendations.
Impacts the quality of own work and the work of others on the team, ensuring efficient workflows, productivity, etc.
Explains complex information to others, ensuring audience understanding.
Provides project management on various multi-disciplinary projects ensuring compliance with contract documents and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide overall engineering and support for all department IT and OT hardware, software, and network utility systems.
Provide engineering, management, and support for network security hardware and software and security policies used for securing all software, IT/OT devices, and network infrastructure.
Provide engineering, management, and support for the installation, expansion, and upgrades of process controls systems, including Wonderware, DeltaV, Rockwell, Johnson Controls Metasys, and other platforms.
Provide engineering, management, and support for the installation, expansion, and upgrades of the Utility Process Control Networks infrastructure including network devices and fiber optic and copper cabling.
Provide oversight and organization for the department process controls OSI-Pi and data historians including mechanisms and software to analyze operational data.
Implement data management and analysis tools or applications to improve the effective access to process data for department staff.
Develop and implement and maintain data dashboards for both staff and campus communities’ use, as needed.
Develop and implement optimization tools and systems to enhance performance of utility production and distribution for the campus.
Assist with the development, enhancement, and maintenance of IT and OT in-house developed desktop, web, and database applications and interfaces.
Salary
Salary Range: $76,279-$156,865 annually

Minimum Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
- Licensure or certification may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
A Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering is required. Electrical or Computer Engineering preferred.
Two years of related work experience. Prior experience with utility work is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Software development using object-oriented programming principles, methodologies and languages.
Possesses expanded conceptual knowledge of Computer Engineering functions and broadens capabilities.
Understands functional drivers and uses this understanding to accomplish/complete own work.
