Job Description

The OHS Manager – Team Leader will be responsible for the overall coordination of an OHS team working on-site for a technology customer. This role is responsible for meeting contractual objectives, KPIs, and SLAs and for developing, implementing, and managing health and safety programs. The OHS Manager – Operational Leader will be the primary on-site OHS support for a technology customer. The ideal candidate will be an experienced safety professional who has experience coordinating a team and experience performing a managed service or consulting service.

Job Functions

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of team operations; Coordinates, supervises, and implements the activities of the team assigned to the service; Prioritizes work based on customer objectives
  • Responsible for ensuring contractual objectives, KPIs, and SLAs are achieved; Initial point of escalation for issues related to quality of work and non-compliance of KPIs and/or SLAs
  • Facilitates program communications and provides regular status reports to the customer and internal stakeholders
  • Helps to develop and administer OHS tools (for example, SDS database, training database, and injury reporting process); Drives efforts (with collaboration from SGS IT) to automate processes for report creation, delivery, and storage
  • Works with the customer to develop coherent workflows and implement procedural efficiencies; Identifies and acts on improvement opportunities for the program
  • Investigates OHS incidents, assists work teams to implement hazard controls, collects and logs hazardous waste, and maintains required documents
  • Participates in various safety committees to ensure engagement of stakeholders and to collaborate on safety and health issues with appropriate stakeholders
  • Owns weekly meetings to prioritize weekly projects/activities. Activities come from various sources; new or updated activities from customer work teams, injury investigations, maintaining OHS tools and systems.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Degrees in other fields will also be considered, or equivalent work experience (Required)
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in the Occupational Health & Safety field OR equivalent combination of education and experience (Required)
  • 2+ years previous supervisory or lead experience (Preferred)
  • Experience working in high technology industry (Preferred)

Licenses and Certifications:

  • CIH preferred
  • CSP preferred
  • Must have the following training or be willing to acquire it within 60 days after starting work (Required)
  • RCRA Hazardous Waste Manager (8-hour — must complete this training annually) (Required)
  • DOT Hazardous Materials Shipper (8-hour — must complete this training every three years) (Required)

  • Ability to work effectively in high pressure, high volume, high growth environment, balancing several assignments concurrently with different deadlines (Required)
  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in person, on phone, and via email with internal stakeholders and all levels of management of customer (Required)
  • Ability to gather and review information and synthesize data for reports and other written materials; excellent (Required)

  • Demonstrate strong commitment to SGS Operational Integrity policies, procedures, guidelines, and instructions by participating in and enhancing the SGS culture of safety to attend safety meetings, complete required training, intervening in case of unsafe situations, refusing unsafe work, and fully complying with laws, regulations, internal, and customer requirements for health and safety (Required)
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations (Required)
  • Prioritize work based on team objectives (Required)
  • Complete projects with little need for oversight (Required)

  • Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull upwards of 20 lbs on an occasional basis (Required)

The salary range for this position is $101,200 – $131,500 (dependent on experience).

In addition, your compensation package includes the following benefits:

  • Participation in the Company’s benefit programs coincident or following the first of the month in which you are hired.
