Financial and Budget Analyst

The Opportunity
XQ Institute is looking for a Financial/Budget Data Analyst to join the Finance Team in Oakland, CA. The Analyst is primarily responsible for preparing and overseeing the organization’s financial planning and budgeting processes, helping teams with meaningful analytics, and collaborating with org-wide leaders. This role will report to the CFO.
Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare the annual, quarterly, and project budgeting process and promptly maintain accurate and updated forecasts to meet the deadline.
  • Develop and manage budgets and contract analysis for project execution.
  • Facilitate leadership collaboration with XQ teams to routinely educate financial, budget, and analysis literacy.
  • Assist with planning, updating, and managing the long-term financial plan.
  • Perform in-depth variance analysis and create operation and program reporting to help promptly track and manage spending and other related decisions.
  • Establish strong lines of communication within the finance team and with executive team members to raise issues and provide insight for decision-making.
  • Special projects as assigned.
  • S/he will work directly with the CFO and team leads to manage budgets, create reporting processes and support the leadership of all departments on planning and analysis.
  • Suggests actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses.
  • Coordinate with other members of the Finance Team to review and amend financial reports.
  • Build financial models and projections.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or related work, with a minimum of 3+ years of analytics-related experience.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Quickbooks, and other analytical tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical capabilities.
  • Proficient knowledge of budgeting and forecasting techniques.
  • Strong ability to identify trends and patterns in complex data sets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact Effective collaborator throughout the organization.
  • Experience with financial data plus accounting practices.
  • Strong desire to solve problems and enthusiasm for learning new and advancement of the work.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $150,000-$170,000 per year. XQ offers excellent organizational benefits.

Location

XQ is based in Oakland, CA with offices in Washington DC. This role will be based in Oakland, CA. You will need to report 4 days a week in person.
