Primary Purpose
Under the general supervision of the Human Service Coordinator this position performs daily delivery of meals to Meals on Wheels participants. Work includes delivery of meals on established route(s). Routine record keeping pertaining to number of meals delivered and paperwork regarding mileage of County car usage. Work is reviewed by a Human Service Coordinator. Employee follows standard protocols and if unexpected situations occur will contact Coordinator for direction. Work tasks are recurring.

- Worker is required to operate vehicle daily (Monday through Friday) for delivery of meals.
- Worker must be proficient and skilled in safe operation of car or small van.
- Delivers meals to home bound clients daily and timely on established routes in Craven County.
- Must load and unload cambros’ into cars.
- Utilizes proper lifting techniques daily.
- Maintains operations records of vehicle.
- Completes and maintains routine records regarding the delivery of meals and temperatures.
- Observes clients home and surroundings and reports any concerns to Coordinator daily and makes written notes of concern on delivery paperwork. Also reports any concerns relayed to you by responsible parties, neighbors and or volunteer drivers.
- Greets senior center participants, caterer, and volunteer drivers daily. Forwards any concerns or suggestions to Coordinator.
- Assists with taking temperature of home delivered meals upon arrival from caterer.
- Assists volunteer drivers with loading and unloading cambros as needed.
- Ensures volunteers take all food items and delivery directions.
- Assists with washing and preparing dishes and cambros to return to caterer next day for sanitizing.
- Assists with coverage for Congregate and Senior Center programming as directed by Senior Center. Coordinator- tasks may include assistance with serving of lunch for congregate, etc.

Minimum Education and Experience
Completion of grammar school.
Valid NC Drivers License
