Job Summary
The Sr. Tax and Compliance Analyst serves as the internal subject matter expert for taxes and compliance with all laws and regulations as well as provide accounting, compliance, and reporting support.

Hiring range: $76,960-94,725/year
Responsibilities
- Stay abreast of tax regulations and changes in the non-profit sector, ensuring the organizations’ compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
- Develop and implement tax compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard the organization’s tax-related activities.
- Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and identify potential areas of risk and opportunity.
- Identify tax planning opportunities and recommend strategies to maximize tax savings and incentives available to non-profit organizations.
- Analyze the potential tax implications of proposed organization activities, transactions, and initiatives.
- Prepare and file quarterly and year-end payroll tax returns and multi-state filings.
- Reconcile, research, and respond to Federal, State, and Local tax agency notices working in tandem with our payroll provider.
- Perform financial data analysis in conjunction with the finance team.
- Assist with audits, month-end, and year-end closing.
- Provide complete backup to the Sr. Payroll Administrator.
- Coach, mentor and develop Payroll Compliance Analyst.
- Provide accounting data and ad hoc reports for CFO, department heads, and supervisors.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders including finance, HR, and legal to gather information and ensure accurate reporting and compliance.
- Define and implement team processes emphasizing automation, internal controls, and balanced workloads.
- Drive and solve troubleshooting through root cause analysis.
- Support timely resolution of complex issues/inquiries.

Qualifications
- Extensive experience in accounting with demonstrated problem solving, including research and analysis of compliance areas.
- Advanced analytical skills and the ability to dive deep into details, while also seeing and understanding the big picture.
- Expert MS Excel skills.
- Ability to exercise discretion.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Strong work ethic and team player.
- Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with, diverse populations.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or similar field required.
- CPP designation preferred but not required.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in compliance, preferably withing the non-profit sector.
