Job Title: Development Associate, Institutional Giving
Department: Development
Reports to: Sr. Director of Development
Director of Foundation Relations
Status: Full-time, Non-exempt
Salary Range: $40,000 – $45,000
Summary: The development associate, institutional giving work closely with the directors of corporate and foundation relations to successfully achieve contributed income goals and develop deep relationships with donors through excellence in donor stewardship and engagement. This position handles stewardship/benefit fulfillment and administrative processes for the Institutional Giving team in the Houston Symphony’s Development Department. This key position is part of a large, dynamic advancement team that supports the work of Houston’s world-class orchestra.
Essential Job Functions:
- Stewardship: fulfills benefits for Symphony’s corporate, foundation and government donors and key institutional stakeholders. Activities include, but are not limited to:
- Primary contact for all institutional donor ticketing needs
- Plan and execute all aspects of institutional donor events and engagement such as pre- and post-concert receptions, dinners, meet and greets and private rehearsals and attend as needed
- Coordinate corporate ensemble performances and attend as needed
- Prepare and fulfill annual donor benefit packages and discount codes
- Tracking institutional benefits and activation
- Compilation and preparation of corporate fulfillment packets
- Create vouchers and ticket packages as needed for Institutional donors and stakeholders
- Manage logistical aspects of corporate concert buyouts including event execution in partnership with Jones Hall staff and Artistic/Operations and team
- Manage sponsorship calendar for all institutional donors
- Prospect/Donor Cultivation:
- Manage a portfolio of Institutional donors from $1,000-$10,000 level annually
- Prepare proposals and reports as needed for Institutional donors
- Create and maintain updated materials for prospect meetings and prepare packets as needed
- Manage annual update to Houston Symphony profile on Donor Houston, BBB, and similar resources
- Identify new corporate and foundation prospects and conduct preliminary research on potential new donors
- Coordinate prospect mailings
- Administration and Correspondence:
- Create and send institutional correspondence, including thank you letters and charitable contribution receipts
- Manage Institutional giving budget and subscriptions
- Maintain up-to-date Tessitura and paper files for Institutional partner records
- Attend and report on PSC Inventory meetings and manage Institutional comps
- Additional duties:
- Attend performances and donor events as required
- Act as a representative from the Development department at concerts and Houston Symphony functions
- Perform additional duties as required by the Houston Symphony Society
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Tessitura.
- Experience with Desktop publishing (Publisher) preferred, along with spreadsheets, reporting and mail merge functions.
- Professional demeanor, detail oriented with ability to work successfully in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects.
- Ability to work well with others.
