Basic Functions:

  • Perform and manage others in the performance of tasks directly related to repairing project homes, while upholding the standard of partnerships, quality, safety, and team participation
  • Willingness and ability to work well with all types of people

  • Supervise, monitor, and delegate tasks to volunteers and other team members, as appropriate
  • Maintain current knowledge of building codes and Habitat standards
  • Foster good relationships with volunteers, homeowners, inspectors, and sub-contractors.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Communicate effectively with people of all levels
  • Promote partnership among all participants within Habitat Charlotte, giving special attention to the needs and concerns of home owners, staff, volunteers, and donors
  • Develop and maintain good communication with building suppliers, subcontractors, trade professionals, Church leaders and other potential volunteers and donors
  • Communicate with subcontractors and inspectors to insure that their tasks are completed thoroughly, efficiently, with minimal call – backs and according to the established standards of quality
  • Perform all tasks with little supervision including, but not limited to framing, siding, finish carpentry
  • Manage all aspects of the Repair process from project start through the warranty process
  • Plan for each work day to insure that all necessary resources- material and human- are available to complete the task list
  • Supervise, monitor, and delegate tasks to volunteers, home owners and other team members as appropriate
  • Complete walkthrough reports as required in a timely manner
  • Respond promptly to warranty work
  • Notify the appropriate team member, in a timely manner, when team resources are needed for specific jobs
  • Utilize Habitat’s administrative tools for job management, e. g. the construction manual, safety guidelines, ordering forms, volunteer management, etc.

Qualifications

Position Requirements

  • Provide a safe working environment at all times Abiding by all Habitat for Humanity of Charlotte, OSHA, and EPA safety standards.
  • Directly supervise Interns, Construction Assistants, and Assistant Supervisors by providing construction and leadership training, mentoring, and daily instruction. Encourage and support members to increase their skills and abilities in all aspects of their position
  • Maintain quality of construction in accordance with local, state, federal, and Habitat Charlotte building standards
  • Maintain flexibility of schedule to utilize volunteers, help other supervisors, and respond to specific homeowner and office requests
  • Maintain Habitat equipment, as assigned

Physical requirements:

  • Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding
  • Ability to work and maneuver on roofs and high spaces
  • Ability to work in tight confines and within crawlspaces
  • Ability to maneuver over uneven ground
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs unassisted
  • Ability to stand most or all of any given day
  • Ability to work outside for extended periods of time during all months of the year.
  • Ability to operate basic computer skills

Knowledge/Skills Required:

  • Construction Management Experience
  • Minimum 3 years general construction experience
  • Personal construction vehicle/truck required
  • Ability to Perform all Construction Tasks Related to Projects

  • Safety Certifications OSHA, Lead RRP, Asbestos Awareness

Estimated Time Commitment:

Monday-Friday work week. 40+/- hours/week.
