The New York City Law Department is now accepting applications from admitted attorneys for the position of E-Discovery Counsel in its E-Discovery Division. The E-Discovery Counsel will:
Provide general advice and legal counsel to guide Law Department litigators and agency counsel through every aspect of e-discovery.
Assist in developing strategy, negotiating with adversaries, participating in court conferences, drafting papers, and helping to litigate disputed issues such as allegations of spoliation and motions for sanctions.
Oversee the collection and processing of electronic data, coordinate document reviews and productions, and ensure defensibility and efficiency throughout the e-discovery process.
Serve as a Law Department expert on e-discovery case law and strategy.
Advise Law Department attorneys and agency clients on emerging case law and technologies related to the management, preservation, collection, review, and production of electronic evidence.
Help Law Department attorneys and agency counsel respond to requests for production in litigations, Freedom of Information Law requests, civil investigative demands, subpoenas, and other document demands.
Minimum Qual Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess superior analytic, interpersonal, and communication skills. Experience with advising on and implementing e-discovery workflows for preservation, collection, review, and production of ESI, providing guidance concerning legal holds, participating in court conferences, negotiations, and meet-and-confers related to e-discovery issues, conducting early case assessment analysis, utilizing technology assisted review tools and developing best practices.
Preferred Skills
Applicants with at least three years of legal experience after law school are preferred.
