Position Summary
Under general supervision, performs a variety of computer systems administration and support tasks, including analyzing, constructing, documenting, testing, maintaining, troubleshooting and supporting PC hardware, operating systems, software applications, peripherals, audio/video equipment and smart phones for the entire organization as well as third party contracted organizations. Performs a variety of project tasks and requires good communication skills with the ability to work with end users diplomatically and skillfully to resolve IT related requests in a prompt and competent manner. Exercises judgment and decision making in the diagnosis and resolution of computer hardware and software problems. Performs the full range of work assigned to this class and to work with some independence and initiative. At this level, work is moderately complex in nature. Handles normal recurring matter including deviations in the work on own, referring new and unusual matters or policy questions to others.

What You Will Do

  • Installs, maintains and troubleshoots hardware and software.
  • Troubleshoots and configures client network connectivity.
  • Installs, maintains peripherals.
  • Configures and troubleshoots smart phones.
  • Performs monitoring and problem resolution in network operations.
  • Configuration and support of voice mail and electronic mail at the client level.
  • Configures and installs computer workstations, peripherals and smart phones for all end users in the organization as well as third party contracted agencies.
  • Enters and documents all pertinent data relating to the Work Order System as well as all other related IT processes.
  • Assists in setup and programming of physical network connections from the workstation to the physical network access point.
  • Diagnoses PC hardware, software and LAN technical malfunctions and provides repair or resolution.
  • Researches new software and hardware products. Assists in providing inventory control for PC’s and other computing equipment or supplies.
  • Support of Office Productivity Applications at a moderate level.
  • Administration of various network services, SMS, Surf control and all Comcast.DSL (independent) internet workstations.
  • Generates various reports from a number of database’s to obtain requested information needed for County business.
  • Maintains various printers and scanners.
  • Sets-up, configures, tests, maintains, operates and troubleshoots audio visual and technical equipment as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.
  • Performs maintenance of the Mobile Command Unit as needed.
  • Performs training, maintenance and operation of the Public Safety Outdoor Warning and Emergency Alert System as needed.
  • Support of emergency management operations to include exercises and actual emergencies as needed.

What You Have
Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED and five years experience in PC computing in a LAN environment required.

Or

  • Associate’s Degree in Computer Information Services and three years experience in PC computing in a LAN environment required.

Additional Experience:

  • Experience with setting up, configuring, testing, maintaining and troubleshooting audio visual and technical equipment preferred.

Certificates:

  • A+ Certification preferred.

Licenses:

  • Valid Colorado driver’s license at time of hire required.

Special Requirements:

  • Must successfully pass background check.
  • Must be able to pass post job offer physical screening.

DEPARTMENTS SCHEDULED TO WORK ON HOLIDAYS
Due to operational requirements, some employees will be required to work on holidays. The employee must take the holiday by the end of the month following the holiday at a date approved by their Elected Official or Department Director

SICK LEAVE
Regular full-time employees accrue eight (8) hours per month with a maximum accrual of 960 hours.

VACATION

  • 0-5 years: earn eight (8) hours per month with a maximum accrual of 144 hours.
  • 5-10 years: earn twelve (12) hours per month with a maximum accrual of 216 hours.
  • 10+ years: earn sixteen (16) hours per month with a maximum accrual of 288 hours.

New hires are eligible to use vacation time after six (6) months of continuous service with Pueblo County.

RETIREMENT
All Regular Full-Time employees and Elected Officials are required to participate in the County Retirement Plan upon completion of one (1) month of continuous employment. A pre-tax deduction of 8.25% will be deducted from the employee’s monthly pay.

EMPLOYER MEDICAL CONTRIBUTION
Pueblo County’s contribution toward the purchase of your benefit options on a tiered approach and based on which medical plan you elect.

If Benefit Selections:

  • Are greater than the employer contribution dollar amount, the difference is deducted from paycheck
