The Auditor-Controller-Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Department (ACTTC) is recruiting to fill a Revenue Programs Accountant position at the I or II level. As the Revenue Programs Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining, planning, and reviewing the Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) program, including but not limited to revenue collection, fiscal transaction review, account reconciliation, and financial and data analysis using various software systems. Additional responsibilities will include reconciling tax data, and customer service coordination by mail, phone, and in-person.
The ideal candidate will be results-oriented, organized, and enthusiastic about improving financial processes. Additionally, you will possess:
- A strong understanding of governmental accounting and collections, and the ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and local laws and policies
- Experience mentoring and guiding staff to promote efficiency and growth
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products
- The ability to search and navigate various financial software systems and can efficiently work with large amounts of data to create complex reports
- Experience drafting and updating standard operating procedures

This recruitment is being conducted to fill a Revenue Programs Accountant II position in the Auditor-Controller-Treasurer-Tax Collector Department. This employment list may also be used to fill future full-time, part-time, or extra-help (temporary) positions as they occur during the active status of the list. Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience: Any combination of education and experience which would provide opportunity to acquire the knowledge and abilities listed. Normally, either possession of a college degree in accounting, finance or business administration with at least 12 semester or 16 quarter units of Accounting, including Principles of Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, Advanced Accounting, Governmental Accounting, Cost Accounting or Auditing;
OR
possession of a Certified Public Accountant Certificate, and one year of experience in a position comparable to Accountant I in a local government agency or one year of experience in a professional level auditing or accounting position which demonstrates exposure to the many different facets of accounting theory and application;
OR
six years of Account Clerk experience including three years as an Accounting Technician or higher with Sonoma County and at least 9 semesters or 12 quarter units of college level accounting credit, would provide such opportunity.
License: Possession of a valid driver’s license at the appropriate level including special endorsements, as required by the State of California, may be required depending upon assignment to perform the essential job functions of the position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Considerable knowledge of: accounting theory, principles, and practices, and their application to a wide variety of accounting transactions and problems with a particular reference to governmental accounting.
Working knowledge of: modern office management procedures, practices, and equipment, particularly as they apply to accounting operations; laws ordinances and regulations governing the financial operations of the County and its departments; data processing applications to accounting procedures.
Ability to: analyze and evaluate accounting data; perform mathematical computations including percentages, discounts, interest, profit and loss, and other calculations applicable in a financial operation; prepare complex financial reports; establish new accounting systems; plan, schedule, assign, coordinate, and supervise the work of subordinate employees if required by nature of assignment; communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; prepare clear and concise fiscal reports; adjust to workload changes and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
