The Director, Pre-Construction leads a multi-discipline team focused on supporting the development and delivery of projects related to Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Green Hydrogen (GH2) production. Located within the Project Delivery organization, the Pre-Construction team, works across the ENGIE organization to identify and qualify contractors, vendors, and service providers; completes initial project designs (<30%); manages long lead equipment agreements and pipelines; provides real estate and land management services; provides Geographic Information Support (GIS) to the entire North American FGBU.
This position will sit in Houston, TX and will report to the VP, Project Delivery, FGBU – North America. This position is open to a hybrid scheduled of both in-office and work-from-home days.

What you’ll do:
- Leads, mentors, and guides the development of, personnel within the Pre-Construction team
- Manges all work within the Pre-Construction team to assure development project needs are met with sufficient quality, on schedule, and within the available budget
- Ensures that proper resources exist within the Pre-Construction team supported by the VP, Project Delivery
- Working with ENGIE’s Procurement functional team, identifies and qualifies EPC Contractors, Design and Consulting Engineers, and Major Equipment Vendors to assure a strong pool of resources are available to support FGBU’s BESS and GH2 projects
- Maintains strong relationships with the pool of qualified contractors, engineers, consultants, and vendors. Leverages these relationships to address issues related to, improve the performance of, and drive down the costs of, FGBU’s projects
- Oversees and manages the delivery of initial project designs (<30%) to support the development, permitting, and contracting of FGBU’s projects
- Supported by the Procurement and Contract Management teams, maintains the current pipeline of Long Lead Equipment (Main Power Transformers, Batteries, Electrolyzers, Compressors, etc.) and the associated orders and/or reservation agreements
- Oversees and manages the provision of real estate acquisition and management services for all FGBU projects; this will include hiring personnel, contracting for services, and complying with all agreement terms and conditions
- Oversees and manages the provision of Geographic Information System (GIS) services for all FGBU activities
What you’ll bring:
- A minimum of a four (4) year degree with a focus in management, engineering, science, or technology
- A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience related to the development, design, or construction of physical assets
- A minimum of twelve (12) years of total working experience
- Strong Interpersonal skills with a proven ability to lead, manage, direct, and develop multi-discipline teams
- The ability to be flexible and adjust to changing business and project conditions, develop and present alternative solutions to problems, and recommend a course of action
- A solid competency in team management and strong experience in construction related activities; engineering, design, construction, contracting, etc
- The ability to accurately gather and use data to forecast results, improve processes, and generally contribute to the success of the FGBU
- The ability to travel for several days at a time and spend up to 30% of their time away from the base location
- An excellent working knowledge of standard office software such as MS office, Teams, Sharepoint, MS Project, and other software such as ArcGIS, GreenIT, SAP, and Procore
- An ability to exhibit flexibility which may require late night and/or weekend attention and/or short notice travel to address issues

- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
- Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to use personal computer, calculator, etc
- Could involve some lifting
Additional Information/Conditions:

- Ability to communicate effectively
- A Professional Engineer license is strongly preferred
- Able to travel for several days at a time and spend up to 50% of their time at project locations remote from the base work location

- Salary Range: $130,830-$218,505 USD annually
- Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
