POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
The Drafter/CAD Operator III will work within the government site onboard NAS North Island CA to provide drafting support in the maintenance and sustainment of 2D and 3D model CAD data files.
- This position will be provided a government NMCI asset and software in order to support the task order requirements.
- Individual will provide Computer-Aided Design (CAD) drafting support in the maintenance and sustainment of 2D and 3D model CAD data files as part of the Engineering Change Proposal process and drawing maintenance responsibilities in support of the Consolidated Automated Support System, Reconfigurable Transportable Consolidated Automated Support System, electronic Consolidated Automated Support System and F/A-18 Product Support Equipment Technical Data Package, as well as any emergent CAD data file maintenance requirements in support of assigned Physical Configuration Audits (PCAs).
- The Draft/CAD Operator works from sketches, computer models, and verbal information supplied by an engineer, architect, or designer to determine the most appropriate views, detail drawings, and supplementary information needed to complete assignments. This operator selects required information from computer programs, and internet sites, precedents, manufacturers’ catalogs, and technical guides. This operator independently resolves most of the problems encountered. Supervisor or design originator may suggest methods of approach or provide advice on unusually difficult problems.
- Develop, update/edit/prepare, and deliver technical publications including, but not limited: original research and writing, engineering prints for Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) data, Logistic Support Analysis (LSA) data for logistics inputs, Installation drawings, preliminary parts lists, and validation/verification changes.
- Participate in Quality Assurance (QA) events (in-process reviews, on object or tabletop validations or verifications) associated with the development and sustainment of NAVAIR Technical Publications. The location of the QA events may be hosted at either the Contractor or at a government site. Examples of types of efforts to be coordinated and supported include, but are not limited to: Planning Meetings, Start of Work Meetings, In-Process Reviews, Adequacy Reviews, Validation, Verification, Validation/Verification, and contractual Deliverable Technical Acceptance Reviews. Assess quality plans and processes and related documentation.
- Prepare, review, and coordinate engineering changes and associated documentation, such as ECPs, requests for deviation (RFDs), Notices of Revision (NORs), TDs, Specifications, and Specification Change Notices (SCNs).
- Support weapon system changes through the development of tech directives and supporting change control board actions. Develop, update, maintain, and improve fleet bulletins and Rapid Action Maintenance/Minor engineering Change (RAMEC).
- Operate, maintain, store, manage and support the Navy’s digital and non- digital drawing files, TM libraries, TDP repository, configuration management and other programmatic data files and databases. Tasks may include:
- Data/Media receipt, review and entry
- Data/Media Control
- Data/Media Management
- Inventory and Audit
- Data Reproduction
- Data Archiving
- Technical Documentation Research
- Provide TDP review and assessment support for Systems Engineering Technical Reviews to include, but not limited to System Functional Review (SFR), and Preliminary Design Review (PDR). Contractor will evaluate TDP maturity, compliance with American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Y14.100 Engineering Drawing Practices. Engineering Drawing Practices, Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) practices to include, but not limited to modeling practices, modeling organizational schemas, and model validation practices. Contractor personnel will require expertise in multiple CAD software packages such as Autodesk AutoCAD ®and Inventor®, Siemen’s NX ® and Solid Edge®, Assault Systems CATIA® and Solidworks®, and PTC CREO®, as well as model validation software packages such as CADIQ®.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must have working knowledge and work experience with the following CAD formats: Drawing (.dwg), Data Interchange Format (.dxf), Part (.prt), Assembly (.asm), Drawing (.drw), Computer-Aided Design (.cad), Solid Part (.sldprt), Solid Assembly (.sldasm), and Solid Drawing (.slddrw).
- Must have working knowledge and work experience with the following CAD software: AutoDesk Inventor, Unigraphic Solutions Unigraphics NX 7.5, PTC ProEngineer CREO 5.0, Solidworks, Bentley, CADRA
- Pursuant to the Government Contract, you must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance
Knowledge and experience with the following is preferred:
- Illustrating knowledge and experience to be able to work independently on lead or government assigned tasking.
- CAD/graphic experience in particular to the Consolidated Automated Support System, Reconfigurable Transportable Consolidated Automated Support System, electronic Consolidated Automated Support System and F/A-18 Product Support Equipment Technical Data Package, as well as any emergent CAD data file maintenance requirements in support of assigned Physical Configuration Audits (PCAs).
- Technical publication and/or IETM experience in particular to NAVAIR, S1000D, MIL-STD-3001, MIL-DTL-81927, and/or MIL-STD-38784.
- Strong attention to detail
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to work 40 hours per week on a consistent basis
