Mechanic/Operator – MIST

The Mechanic/Operator – MIST that supports our SDC business has responsibility for the setup, operation, preventative maintenance and repair of the Packet Assembly Machine to ensure the highest quality output of assembled test packets for the Mail-In Spore Testing (MIST) Services. This position is also responsible for coordinating production needs with management and maintaining adequate inventory levels to support Testing Service Assembly.

• Complies with company ethics, code of conduct, policies, and best practices, with a commitment to safety in the workplace, valuing of diversity, and promotion of a harassment-free environment.
• Application of the Mesa Labs Quality Policy and actively monitor quality of outcomes in the performance of all assigned tasks.
• Machine setup, including performing and documenting daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance tasks.
• Preparation and transfer of raw components to passed component production areas.
• Maintaining adequate inventory levels of all raw components and ensuring correct component revisions used in production.
• Maintaining storage areas by organizing floor space and communicating with Continuous Improvement Specialist to support lean manufacturing philosophy and strategic business initiatives.
• Accurately and efficiently using customized software systems for the operation and traceability of serialized test packets inventory.
• Machine upkeep and troubleshooting a variety of issues that may arise. Examples include: troubleshooting software system issues, assembly station timing issues, cam slippage, jams and printer issues, etc.
• Performing in-process quality inspections of assembled test packets.
• Monitor output of machine operations against product specifications.
• Identifying and communicating machinery improvement ideas.
• Identifying and communicating process improvement ideas to support continuous improvement goals.
• Perform machinery adjustments and accurately documenting in equipment logbooks.
• Training Production Technicians to assist with test packet assembly and completing required training documentation.
• Exhibit excellent Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) documentation practices.
• Comply with site safety procedures.
• Perform other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications/Education:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two years’ machine operation experience
  • Associate or Bachelor of Science in engineering or relevant field preferred
  • Two years’ experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience in mechanical and/or electrical engineering preferred
  • Experience in FDA regulated industry preferred
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience

Compensation/Benefits:

This is a 24 hour part-time, Friday-Sunday position.

Salary for this position is $22/hr, with an additional 10% shift differential for hours worked over the weekend.
