Description
Are you organized, able to manage many moving parts, and excited about community recreation? Do you have a team-oriented mindset? Are you flexible, adaptable, and eager to help when the need arises? If so, join our team as a Program Assistant II supporting Track-Out Camps. In this position, you will take an active leadership role in the planning and implementation of Track-Out Camp to deliver high-quality programming for camp participants.

Employment for Track-Out Camp starts in September 2023 and runs through May 2024. Camp Staff are required to participate in general training prior to camp (dates TBD).

Track-Out Camp is held at Bond Park Community Center.
This is a part-time, non-benefited, year-round position, up to 20 hours a week, with a maximum of 999 hours per year.

Typical Tasks
Communicates information with parents on any schedule changes, concerns, or disciplinary issues;
Manages day-to-day camp operations by ensuring that group schedules are followed and proper supplies are on hand for scheduled activities or trips;
Manages camp staff schedules, coaches staff, and completes staff evaluations;
Ensures that the daily cleaning schedule is followed and assists with cleaning when needed;
Mediates camper disciplinary issues and completes any necessary paperwork;
Works with inclusion staff to accommodate any camper needs;
Provides coverage in camp administrative office;
Monitors camp transition;
Helps with check-in and check-out procedures;
Drives a town 15-passenger vehicle or smaller;
Performs other job-related tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Requires general knowledge of traditional camps; general knowledge of equipment and supplies required for camp operation; general knowledge of computers and related software; strong organizational skills; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to maintain and establish effective working relationships with others; ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions; ability to exercise judgment in controlling the activities, behavior, and safety of camp attendees; ability to supervise other staff.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications
Requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma or GED.

Requires at least one year or one summer season working in a camp setting as a counselor, camp administrator, teacher, or similar position.

Prefers two or more years of experience in teaching youth in a classroom setting, or attainment of a bachelor’s degree in recreation management, physical education, elementary/middle/high school education, or closely related field.

CPR and First-aid Certification preferred; training opportunities available.

Requires drug testing and background check (which may include criminal check, education verification and credit history review) prior to employment.

Requires possession of a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
