Job Description
A Child Support Professional works as part of a team in coordinating the daily operations of the Community Residence Program and ultimately ensures the safety of the youth served. A Child Support Professional reports to the Program Supervisor/Social Worker and the Program Director.
Essential Accountabilities
OPERATIONAL
- General supervision of youth during shift. All youth must be in eyesight vision of all staff at all times.
- Provide hand-off communication with other staff members any time a youth enters or leaves an area of eyesight vision.
- Ensure and adhere to OMH regulated 3:1 daytime/evening and 4:1 overnight youth to staff ratios at all times.
- Primary Counselor for 2-3 youth.
- Implementation of service plan goals through the provision of restorative services such as counseling, behavior modification training, socialization training, independent living skills training, family support, etc.
- Contacting assigned youth’s families multiple times per week.
- Completion of documentation including, but not limited to monthly restorative notes, daily entries in the communication log, progress reports, incident reports, etc.
- Completing the Shift Summary sheets as assigned.
- Documentation of the youth phone contact with their families.
- Transportation of youth in agency. Accompany, supervise, and provide transportation (when necessary) for appointments, home visits and activities out in the community.
- Involvement in change of shift meeting and house youth meeting.
- Attendance at all in-service trainings and OMH trainings.
- Attendance at 75% staff meetings annually (9 of 12 staff meeting) and playing an active role in bringing up staff issues and youth concerns.
- Medication management and appropriate documentation.
- Emergency coverage as needed (i.e. staff shortage on shift, crisis CPEP visits after scheduled hours).
- Ensure proper change of shift (i.e. not leaving until the next shift arrives).
- Report to Program Supervisor or Program Director for regular supervision.
- Participation in OMH QI plans and agency QI plans.
- Attendance and participation at the Family Bonds Retreat Weekend, if necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
A high school diploma and experience working with children with serious emotional disturbance or related population/setting. Must have valid NYS Driver’s License and clean driving record.
