This position may be filled at one of the three levels based on knowledge, skills, and abilities. The entry salary is posted above, with the Intermediate starting salary of $52,755.36, and a Senior starting salary of $59,086.08.

What you’ll do:
- Prepares news releases regarding department activities, contract lettings, and public relations events for newspapers and radio.
- Assists with department special projects such as Missouri State Fair exhibits, conference displays, work zone safety campaigns, roadway safety activities, and other special promotions.
- Develops website content, brochures, handouts, newsletters, and other publicity material; designs and publishes written materials.
- Writes feature stories for department publications.
- Develops video productions and takes photos of department activities.
All you need for success:
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree: Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field
Special Working Conditions:
- Job requires occasional, statewide, travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent writing and editing skills for creating press releases, stories, and other department materials using Associated Press style.
- Photography and videography experience.
- Working knowledge of social media platforms and website content management systems, (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Drupal).
- Ability to plan, organize and complete complex assignments and events within given deadlines.
- Great interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external customers.
- Experience working with local and regional media.
- Ability to take complex information and communicate it in a way that is clearly understood for multiple audiences.
- Ability to work independently and on teams, maintain organization, and prioritize and manage projects.
