Description
STV views graphic design as visual storytelling that engages, informs, and inspires. We are looking for a talented graphic designer with a thorough understanding of branding and marketing to join our Communications team. The Graphic Designer will develop and execute print and digital creative solutions while ensuring the design is on the brand, on time, on budget and high quality. Working in the Communications department of a nation-wide engineering/architecture firm, we work on design projects ranging from brochures, websites, social media, presentations, infographics, events and more.
STV’s Communications team is a highly collaborative, adaptable and optimistic group of creatives who are responsible for promoting, protecting and driving the brand. We provide mentorship, skills-based learning and the opportunity to work on some of the most iconic infrastructure projects in North America.
The position reports to our Design Director. This position is designated as hybrid (3 days week/in office) and will be located in our New York, NY office.
Responsibilities:
- Design original pieces that maintain brand consistency throughout
- Collaborate with project teams across the firm to plan, analyze, organize and execute assigned projects
- Assess quality and effectiveness of all materials, including images, maps, charts and other graphics
- Resolves design-related issues by meeting with other team members, technical staff, consultants and vendors to deliver best-possible product
- Oversee assigned projects, from conception to delivery ensuring that deadlines are met
- Ensure user friendliness for all design products
- Maintains relationships with external sources and vendors
- Stay up to date with industry trends, developments and tools
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or equivalent field of study
- 3-5 years of professional experience in the design industry
- Knowledge of basic and advanced design principles and industry software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint)
- Possess strong aesthetic skills with attention to details and the ability to adopt various design styles
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience designing for websites, mobile devices and social media
- Any experience with After Effects or video editing a plus
- Must be flexible with time zones, occasional travel, and be willing to work overtime, when necessary
