Lumber Sales Representative

Our Western mills produce approximately 1.5 billion board feet of lumber annually from five lumber facilities located in Washington, Oregon, and Montana and sells to targeted customers in specific market segments. The sales organization operates in a team-based environment to ensure strong delivery of value to the business and timely delivery of quality products to customers.

The lumber sales representative is part of Weyerhaeuser’s Western Lumber Sales team located in Seattle, WA. The successful candidate will use market knowledge, pricing expertise and analytical skills to generate sales that match customer needs to available supply while achieving profit and volume targets.

The successful candidate will work closely with existing and new lumber customers to meet current and future volume needs in the residential, truss, treated, home center and industrial segments. This key role will drive sales volume, maintain and grow existing accounts and develop new customers within these segments.

We are a small, fast paced, and people-oriented team, so each member is a vital partner and a key contributor to our overall success. This position will report to the Western Lumber sales manager and is primarily an inside sales role with up to 20% travel. The lumber sales representative will report out of Weyerhaeuser’s Seattle Headquarters with the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule (up to 3 days per week in the office).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 5 years sales or purchasing experience in lumber, building products, or other commodities
  • Experience developing effective and lasting relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver strategic goals
  • Proven track record of successfully handling multiple and complex transactions using data analysis, innovative thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills
  • Proven track record of successfully handling multiple and complex sales with program consultation, selling experience and financial acumen to generate profitable sales
  • Knowledge of product end uses, market dynamics, transportation options and product supply channel
  • Excellent business communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to travel 20% of the time

Preferred:

  • SAP or other computerized order management experience

What We Offer:

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $70,000 to $126,800. based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 7% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Retirement: Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, which includes a paid company match in addition to our annual contribution equal to 5% of your base salary.

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with paid vacation for up to 3 weeks to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 hours along with paid parental leave for all full time employees.
