Supervisor – Automated Enforcement Unit

In order to be considered for this position candidate must be serving permanently in the title of Principal Administrative Associate, or must have taken, passed and be reachable on DOT’s Promotional list Exam #1507, or be eligible under the 55a program.

Traffic Operations’ Automated Enforcement Unit seeks to hire two (2) Principal Administrative Associate Level II’s who will serve as Supervisors overseeing the red light, fixed speed, mobile speed, bus lane and MTA’s ABLE Bus Lane camera operation’s processing unit. The candidate will be responsible for Camera Technicians who review camera footage of proposed violations and approves or rejects them. The Notices of Liability are then sent to the registered owner of the vehicle caught on camera violating the law. The candidate is responsible for overseeing the issuance process of all Notices of Liability (NOL’s) for the red light, bus and speed camera violations. The candidate will perform random quality assurance checks, prepare statistical reports and troubleshoot technical issues as they arise from staff. The candidate will also perform auditing responsibilities to ensure that the processors are following all written procedures for the issuance of these violations. The candidate will perform administrative duties, such as scheduling, timesheets, overtime monitoring, and other human resource functions that come with supervising employees.

Minimum Qual Requirements

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, one year of which must have been in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or
2. An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience described in “1” above; or
3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State’s department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and five years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience as described in “1” above;
4. Education and/or experience equivalent to “1”, “2”, or “3” above. However, all candidates must possess the one year of administrative or supervisory experience as described in “1” above. Education above the high school level may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative experience (but not for the one year of administrative or supervisory experience described in “1” above) at a rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 3½ years.

Preferred Skills
• Candidate must possess leadership qualities, excellent verbal skill and writing skills.
• Knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Strong emphasis on knowledge in Traffic Rules and regulations and traffic enforcement
• Candidate should have experience dealing with the public.
