BWC is currently operating under a hybrid schedule that can incorporate both teleworking and in-office hours. Employees may be required to report to the office when requested by management &/or for their initial job training.
What You’ll Be Doing: As an ETL Analytics Specialist (Database Administration Specialist 1) you will be providing tier I database support to BWC employees or other IT staff and assisting with data modeling & conducting performance tuning & configuration.
Data Modeling:
- Assisting with data model design.
- Implementing physical data models.
- Assisting with tuning single RBMS system on a single platform.
Data migrations, business process monitoring:
- Designing & implementing processes for efficient transfer of data.
- Monitoring data transfer processes.
- Resolving data conflicts & inappropriate use of data.
- Providing ETL & data warehouse support.
- Transferring data to data warehouse, building tables & loading scripts.
- Writing platform specific code for data migrations.
High Availability:
- Monitoring cluster parameters for high performance.
- Resolving problems & issues.
Database Support:
- Advising & consulting users on accessing various databases & to resolve data conflicts & inappropriate use of data.
- Promotes system security & awareness by adhering to BWC’s & State of Ohio IT security policy(s) & standards.
Performance Tuning & Configuration:
- Providing performance tuning for query language statements.
- Interpreting query plans.
- Providing monitoring by using vendor supplied & third-party utilities.

Qualifications
To Qualify, You Must Clearly Demonstrate:Required Experience and/or Education
- Completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems AND 12 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: database administration providing Tier I support to information system users and/or IT staff, assisting with data modeling and conducting performance tuning and configuration including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.
- Or completion of associate core program in computer science or information systems AND 18 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: database administration providing Tier I support to information system users and/or IT staff, assisting with data modeling and conducting performance tuning and configuration including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.
- Or 36 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: database administration providing Tier I support to information system users and/or IT staff, assisting with data modeling and conducting performance tuning and configuration including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.
- Or equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
