The Boeing Company is looking for an Embedded Linux Manager (Virtual) to join the Enterprise Software Verticals Organization as part of the Boeing Linux Team. This position will focus on supporting the Software organization.

The Boeing Company is looking for an experienced software developer to join our team as an Embedded Linux Development Manager (Virtual). In this remote role, you will manage a team that develops, deploys, and maintains Linux distributions for safety-critical and non-safety critical applications. You will manage the execution of core software products & capabilities delivered from the organization. This includes an understanding of all aspects of the technology/features, and impact on: customer, employee, financial, and legal implications involved. This is a highly visible, multi-year strategic effort that impacts all areas of the enterprise.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage ~15 embedded Linux engineers through mentorship, feedback, performance evaluations, professional growth and development, etc.
  • Support and lead aggressive growth targets through US hiring initiatives and global work placement
  • Manage Risks, Issues, Opportunities
  • Collaborate with Linux leadership team to develop integrated project schedule, project execution, and status reporting.
  • Execute assigned projects to cost, schedule, and technical performance needs.
  • Support New Business capture in collaboration with Linux leadership team and Software Verticals Strategy and New Business lead.
  • Collaborate with customers to define project scopes, resource allocations, RIOs, deliverable times, and ensure successful project execution.
  • Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders, peers, and partners across the enterprise
  • Ability to think critically, problem solve and comfortable working through ambiguity as required
  • Foster a culture that supports diversity and inclusion

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
• Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
• 2+ years experience in a software leadership role
• 2+ years experience developing software for the Linux Operating System

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience working with cross functional teams and in support of a global presence
  • Embedded Software development experience
  • Experience developing custom device drivers and kernel modules for the Linux operating system
  • Experience with safety certifiable software
  • Risk Management / Mitigation experience

Travel:

Occasional travel may be required but would be less than 10%.

Summary pay range: $123,250.00 – $192,050.00
