Position Overview

As a Clinical Social Worker with the Illinois Department of Corrections, you serve those who need the help most. You will treat challenging, complex cases with a variety of diagnoses. You will join a dedicated team of multidisciplinary professionals who are focused on providing excellent care to individuals in our custody. Job Responsibilities

  1. Conducts intensive, structured on-site client and treatment plant clinical reviews at the facility.
  2. Participates in monthly program staff meetings, facility staff meetings and mental health team meetings.
  3. Serves as Crisis Team leader.
  4. Collaborates with clinical staff to identify available facility operational and community resources that present treatment and discharge barriers for individuals receiving care and evaluates the utilization of these resources.
  5. Assists the facility administrative staff with formulation of facility program design/expansion recommendations, with the most effective and efficient utilization of program resources.
  6. Signs certificates of admission for involuntary and court-ordered admissions.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires a master’s degree in social work from a recognized school of social work supplemented by three (3) years of supervised post master’s clinical social work practice and possession of a clinical social worker’s license from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.

Preferred Qualifications (In Order of Significance)

  1. Prefers at least two (2) years of experience providing clinical supervision in an adult correctional center.
  2. Prefers at least two (2) years of experience in providing clinical supervision to non-clinically licensed professionals.
  3. Prefers at least two (2) years of experience conducting and participating in quality assurance processes.
  4. Prefers at least two (2) years of experience working with multidisciplinary treatment teams.
  5. Prefers at least five (5) years of supervised post master’s clinical social work practice.
  6. Prefers knowledge of relevant clinical accreditation standards [Mental Health focused].

Conditions of Employment

  1. Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
  2. Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized ddrugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
