Environmental Project Engineer
Our client, an employee-owned, global environmental consulting and engineering firm, is seeking an Environmental Project Engineer with 8 – 15 years of experience in the environmental consulting realm for their San Diego or Long Beach office.
This industry leader specializes in custom solutions in Environmental Management and Planning, Civil Design Engineering, Environmental Restoration, Natural & Water Resources, Health & Safety, and Technology with offices operating within the US.

What You Will be Doing:
- Review existing data and develop a strategy to fill data gaps and determine a remedial approach
- Design and lead pilot studies and field testing for various/emerging contaminants
- Manage a project team to support a variety of environmental assessment and remediation projects.
- Provide overall project management and assisting in establishing project-specific objectives.
- Provide environmental compliance support to senior regulatory specialists, including data collection for permitting and/or registration, data analysis, regulatory compliance evaluation, and assessment.
- Provide data compilation, database management, statistical evaluation, and modeling
- Prepare remediation feasibility studies, remedial action plans, and cost estimates
- Oversee and manage subcontractors
- Write and review technical reports
- Initiate and complete environmental inspections at client facilities
- Communicate with clients, regulatory agencies, vendors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders
- Develop technical recommendations for site assessment and remediation activities.
- Conduct site investigation activities (soil, groundwater, indoor air (VI), soil gas, and stormwater sampling)
- Perform remedial evaluations, O&M of remedial systems, and troubleshooting
- Provide environmental compliance support to senior regulatory specialists, including data collection for permitting and/or registration, data analysis, regulatory compliance evaluation, and assessment.
- Mentoring junior staff.
Project Engineer Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s (preferred) degree in Environmental/Civil Engineering, or Geology.
- Between 8 and 15 years of experience
- California Professional Engineer, (P.E.) or Geologist (P.G.).
- Strong understanding of CEQA
- HAZWOPER training and certification
- Strong working knowledge of Cal-EPA (DTSC and/or RWQCB) policies and programs
- Strong experience with vapor mitigation, groundwater/soil remediation, and remediation O&M
- High level of knowledge of RCRA and CERCLA laws and policies
- Prior environmental investigation and remediation experience
- Understanding of Federal facility policies, procedures, and regulations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Overnight travel is required
