Position Summary
Responsible for assisting in all areas related to the gymnasium and fitness and related programs in addition to monitoring proper use of equipment, interacting with Thrive guests and assisting with the set up for programs.
Starting Pay: $13.00/hour
2nd year: $13.50/hour
3rd year: $14.00/hour
4th year: $14.50/hour
5th year: $15.00/hour
6th year: $15.50/hour
Work Hours: Mornings, Afternoons, Evenings, Weekends
Essential Functions
- Assists the Recreation Specialist-Fitness with certifying youth and teens for use of fitness equipment.
- Assists with programming and monitoring fitness and gymnasium equipment and activities.
- Racks weights as needed.
- Ensures all areas and equipment are kept clean.
- Notifies supervisor or Recreation Specialists of any facility issues or guest concerns.
- Assists Fitness and Sports Supervisor in the maintenance of equipment and troubleshoots any problems that arise with fitness and gymnasium equipment.
- Educates Thrive guests of facility procedures.
- Actively promotes Thrive fitness and programming.
- Observes participant behaviors and redirects negative behaviors.
- Assists with scorekeeping for league play.
- Assists with special events and activities at and to promote the facility.
- Responds to facility and guest emergencies as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Graduation from high school or high school equivalency (GED) preferred.
Experience
- Work experience in the fitness field preferred.
- Work experience in customer service preferred.
- Any combination of related, education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job is an acceptable substitute for the above specified education and experience requirements.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Ability to operate fitness and gymnasium equipment.
- Ability to motivate and encourage.
- Ability to be punctual and attend work regularly working a flexible schedule, working days, nights, weekends and holidays as required.
- Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion or job type.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with team members and facility guests.
- Must be able to work with people under stressful and demanding situations.
- Must be able to function effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Special Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug test and functional capacity test.
- Must hold or be able to obtain CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid certifications within 30 days of hire.
