The City of Cupertino Parks and Recreation Department has a seasonal employment opportunity for softball scorekeepers for adult softball leagues held at Memorial Park.
Definition:
Typical activities include, but are not limited to, softball field preparation including water, drag, and line field, accurate scorekeeping for games, maintain team files, scoreboard operation, collaborate with umpires to enforce league rules, and customer service to league participants.
Class Characteristics
Customer Service Attendant I is a seasonal part-time, temporary, non-benefited, and at-will position. It is also limited to no more than 995 hours per fiscal year. Applicants must possess all relevant certifications before the first day of employment.
Essential Duties
Management reserves the right to add, modify, change, or rescind the work assignments of different positions and to make reasonable accommodations so that qualified employees can perform the essential functions of the job.
- Water, drag, and prepare the softball field
- Organize and process related paperwork
- Keep score and game time
- Communicate appropriately with players, umpires, and park patrons
Qualifications
Knowledge of:
- Customer services best practices
- Baseball or softball is helpful but not required
Ability to:
- Understand and follow written and oral instructions
- Must be responsible, alert, courteous, and punctual
- Manage time effectively, show initiative, and work independently
- Work independently
- Available to work evenings
- Provide own transportation to and from work
- Must be able to lift a maximum of 50 pounds
Education and Experience
- Must be a minimum of 16 years old and must obtain a Red Cross CPR/First Aid certification within 90 days of hire.
