Description
The City of Mukilteo Department of Recreation and Cultural Services is seeking Part Time Customer Service Clerks to oversee facility rentals at our award-winning Rosehill Community Center. As part of the team, Customer Service Clerks perform vital functions to ensure the utmost in hospitality for successful operations.
In this position, you represent the direct voice and image of the City to the public and ensure the facility is prepared, open for use, and vacated at the appropriate times. While providing and ensuring high level hospitality, you will provide guidance and limited assistance with event setup and breakdown, and monitor activities, to ensure the safety of visitors and protection of resources.
Individuals serving in this part time position can be expected to work up to 19.5 hours per week.
Available shifts are:
Morning Shift Monday through Friday 6:45am – 10:45am
Afternoon Shift Monday through Friday Noon – 4pm
Evening Shift Monday through Thursday 5pm – 9pm
Weekend Shifts – Friday, Saturday and Sunday 6pm – Midnight
General Purpose of the Position:
Primary duties include preparing the rooms for safe and successful events. Monitor the event while they are in progress and assist the renter with set-up and clean-up.
In addition, this position will offer front desk support, providing information to the public, in person and on the phone. Able to utilize the ActiveNet software system to handle the rental of facility rooms. register patrons in facility programs and collect fees. May be required to educate the public to promote habits and attitudes that lead to safe recreation.
Individuals must be trustworthy, and able to work independently
Essential Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide quality customer service for the patrons and staff.
- Opens and closes the Community Center.
- Work at a variety of department events and activities that take place at the Community Center and other satellite locations.
- Assist public with use of Community Center, inform of rules and policies, rental and program information, registrations, etc.
- Assist with the set up and cleanup of all Community Center facilities, including staging, setting up of tables, chairs, media, sport and play equipment and collection of trash.
- Perform routine custodial work such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and cleaning of hard surfaces.
- Providing information about the city in general, providing information about the community center and programs, etc.
- Answer and route incoming calls.
- Register customers in courses, schedule facilities, collect and receive cash, check and charge payments, reconciles receipts, deposits funds and complies with cash handling policies.
- Assume responsibility for shift reports and accountability of funds.
- Various administrative duties as assigned.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings and trainings.
- Respond to emergency situations.
- Report any damage, incidents, injuries or unsafe situations or conditions using appropriate forms.
- Complete reports accurately and in a timely manner.
- Work with other City of Mukilteo employees to provide safe conditions for the public.
- Adhere to blood borne pathogen training and safety standards.

Skills and Abilities Required:
Ability to cooperate with others, work in a friendly and professional manner.
Knowledge of general office equipment and procedures.
Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate in a diplomatic fashion and present a positive image of city services.
Ability to cope with interruptions, prioritize work; organize documentation, and meet deadlines.
Flexible in work habits, work schedule and able to perform multiple tasks

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills):
Required:
High School diploma or G.E.D. and,
Must be able to accurately type 40 wpm and,
Previous office experience in a customer service environment is preferred and,
Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with the necessary knowledge, skills, and ability required to perform the essential duties of the job.
LICENSING AND CERTIFICATIONS
Washington State Driver’s License with good driving record
First Aid Certification and CPR or ability to obtain within first 6 months of employment.
Must be able to pass a national background check.
