Overview
The Senior Events Manager is primarily responsible for overseeing all aspects of the events from the advance planning stages through the end of the event for all assigned events taking place in the Cox Business Convention Center (CBCC), this includes developing, coordinating, and supervising all event related activities key to the operation of the CBCC including but not limited to collection and distribution of event information from show management, billing preparation/support, customer service representation to our guests and logistics of departmental activities relating to events. This position’s ultimate responsibility is to ensure clear communication between customers, their event contractors, and all internal parties to guarantee efficient and superior delivery of all services and events.
This role will pay a salary of $60,000 to $80,000.

Responsibilities
- Serve as the central resource for customers once they begin their event planning process and primary clearinghouse for all event information.
- Acts as primary client contact during all phases of event management, ascertain client requirements for event set-up, etc. to ensure event runs as requested.
- Provide clients with updates as necessary for each assigned event.
- Acts as lead Event Manager for large, multi-building events. Lead site visits and meetings with clients for all assigned events.
- Initiate and distribute required paperwork to communicate client requirements to appropriate facility departments, and vendors.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, contractors, and facility users.
- Analyze challenges, identify alternative solutions, and project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of organizational objectives.
- Communicate with each department and vendors to ensure the planning process with each assigned event is progressing towards successful execution of event once onsite.
- Prepares work-orders, event lay-outs, and post event notes for each event.
- Work with shows and contractors to ensure facility rules, regulations, policies and procedures are enforced and adhered to.
- Anticipate problems and develop appropriate solutions. Investigates, analyzes and solves operations problems and complaints.
- Inspects completed work for conformance to standards.
- Observe and submit maintenance request orders for repairs and damages.
- Monitor the compliance of standard operating procedures of the Event Services Department.
- Work with relevant departments to ensure the prompt invoicing of clients.
- Provide leadership for event personnel.
- Serves as Manager on duty as required during scheduled events.
- Provide excellent customer sevice to internal and external clients.
- Other event related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, Management, Business, or related field
- Five (5+) years of experience in arenas, convention centers, stadiums, or theater preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Five (5+) years as an Event Manager.
- Three (3+) years’ experience managing/leading people and teams required.
- Work independently exercising judgment and initiative with minimal supervision.

- Good oral, written and computer skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects.

- Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.

- Operate standard office equipment and personal computer using MS Windows, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Word.
- Must be able to stand or walk for the duration of the shift and must be able to carry and lift according to industry standards.
- Ability to work long and irregular hours that may vary to functions and may include day, evening, weekends and holidays.
- Professional presentation, appearance and work ethic.
- Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) preferred, but not required.
- Experience in event management software (Ungerboeck) preferred, but not required.
- Experience utilizing CAD solutions preferred, but not required.
