Description
The Somerset Hills Branch of Greater Somerset County YMCA is a state of the art recreational facility located in Basking Ridge, NJ. We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Technician assists the Director of Facilities in the daily maintenance & operation of the Facility. A motivated self-starter who works independently and in a team setting to perform Preventative Maintenance and repairs as requested.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Preventative Maintenance:
- Inspection of Fire Extinguishers & Emergency Lighting.
- Clearing of roof drains, gutters and retention basin inlet grates.
- Replace HVAC filters & belts.
- Service door hardware & locks.
- Service drains.
Troubleshoot & Repair:
- Replace light bulbs, ballasts, outlets & switches.
- Wall repair & painting.
- Replace ceiling tiles.
- Replace showerheads, shower cartridges, urinal & toilet flush valves.
- Clear and snake drains.
OTHER DUTIES:
- Ability to prioritize and handle a wide variety of Work Orders, Preventative Maintenance Tasks and Emergency Repair requests.
- React to building & health related emergencies.
- Interact with staff, members, children, special populations and the elderly in a positive and respectful manner.
- Follow organizational policies & procedures.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Graduate or equivalent is required.
- Experience in one or more of the skilled trades or any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience is a plus, however, we are willing to train the right candidate.
- Knowledge of basic electric, plumbing, HVAC and effective safety practices a plus.
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification a plus.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification, or obtain within 90 days of hire .
- Blood borne Pathogens certification, or obtain within 60 days of hire.
- Child Abuse Prevention Training within 30 days of hire.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to use a tablet or smart phone to access Work Orders.
- The employee frequently is required to stand and reach and must be able to move around the work environment.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, work on ladders, kneel, stoop, reach, crouch, bend, others.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
Salary Description
$18.00 to $23.00 per hour
