DESCRIPTION
The City of Shoreview Parks and Recreation Department is now hiring a full-time Recreation Program Supervisor to create exciting recreational activities for people of all ages. This position is primarily focused on childcare, preschool, day camp and youth/teen programs. Recreational programs are a key part of the quality of life and value we provide to our residents.
DUTIES INCLUDE
- Develop, implement and evaluate a variety of youth programs including drop-in childcare, full and half-day preschool, summer day camp, youth/teen programs, etc.
- Select, train, assign and evaluate Associate (part-time) staff.
- Develop new program offerings.
- Schedule program staff, equipment and supplies.
- Provide consistent, high quality customer service to participants.
- Respond to inquiries about programs on the phone, via email, and in person; troubleshoot problems and resolve complaints.
- Prepare program budgets; track and monitor revenues & expenses.
- Write and edit information for brochures, flyers and other promotional materials.
- Facility scheduling and purchase supplies.
- Periodic work at the parks and recreation front desk.
- Other duties and special projects as appropriate or assigned.

Note: This position requires regular and reliable attendance, the ability to concentrate and manage multiple priorities with frequent interruptions, strong written and verbal communication skills, strong customer service skills, and the ability to work well with others.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Parks & Recreation, Leisure Studies, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or a closely related field
- Three years experience in general recreation, early childhood education, elementary education or childcare programming
- Three years supervisory experience
- Valid, unrestricted driver’s license and satisfactory motor vehicle report
Desired Qualifications:
- Additional recreation programming experience
- Additional supervisory experience
- Experience with childcare or preschool programs
- Experience working with school age care programs or day camps
- Experience with teen programs
OTHER
Hiring Salary Range: $71,448 – $78,832 annually, plus excellent benefits. This position is exempt from overtime pay. (2023 salary range: $71,448 – $86,902)
Hours: Generally, Monday – Friday: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, with occasional evenings and weekends.
