This role in summary
Whirlpool is currently seeking qualified candidates for an Engineering Technician. This role is for our KitchenAid Manufacturing Plant in Greenville, OH location. You will serve as a technical resource and project support in the development and application of production systems across a variety of machining processes. You will be responsible for cost and quality improvements and maintaining daily operations to achieve division goals.
Work Hours: 7:00am – 3:30pm – Overtime is available as needed
$32.03 – $36.50 / hour
Wage rate dependent on level of qualification or experience
Your responsibilities will include
- Support proper implementation of new processes & equipment
- Troubleshoot manufacturing electrical, mechanical and programming issues
- Identify, analyze and solve manufacturing process issues and equipment related problems
- Provide leadership and development to maintenance staff to diagnose and solve equipment issues as first line of engineering support
- Drive process improvements through the use of WPS/WCM manufacturing concepts and tools
- Determine root cause of problems and implement corrective & preventive actions utilizing methods WPS/WCM
- Provide technical support to production and work teams and serve as a technical resource for the department
- Support maintaining stability in day to day operations
- Participate in cross functional process improvement projects with the assistance of team members from all aspects of the division
- Analyze, evaluate and document standards according to quality system requirements such as Standard Operating Procedures, Risk Assessments and LOTO procedures
- Provide a critical link between the department and other process partners such as product design, assembly, paint, maintenance, safety, quality, etc.
- Communicate with and support up to a 24-hour / day manufacturing operation
Minimum requirements
- Associate’s in Engineering or a High School Diploma or GED and either a journeyman’s card or 5+ years of engineering technician experience
- 2+ years of manufacturing or plant operations experience
Preferred skills and experiences
- Programming ability in AB Suite, Fanuc, KUKA Robotics, and Mitsubishi CNC controls
- Working knowledge of GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing)
- Proven ability using AutoDesk CAD and Inventor
- Experience using hand tools and fabrication tools
- Strong computer skills (SAP, Google Suite)
- Strong mechanical knowledge
- Ability to work as a team and independently
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Excellent planning, project management and leadership skills
- Ability to support delivery of projects on time and on budget
- Strong communication, presentation and facilitation skills
- Solid decision-making and judgment skills
- Resourcefulness in accomplishing objectives and completing tasks
- Proven problem solving skills
