Technical Writer – Imagery and Remote Sensing

Overview

By harnessing your enthusiasm for writing, editing, and project management, you can help Esri users get value from working with imagery, rasters, and remote sensing data. This is an opportunity to lead the efforts to publish content that make users successful with all forms of imagery on the ArcGIS platform. Leveraging the team’s imagery expertise along with your great writing skills and technical understanding, you can craft and publish clear and meaningful workflows and documentation. You’ll influence ArcGIS users to adopt proven templates and applicable software scripts by communicating imagery solutions in an engaging manner.

Responsibilities

  • Review and edit content from authors and subject matter experts for consistency, clarity, and technical accuracy
  • Manage the Imagery Workflows website by coordinating the writing and release of documentation in a content management system
  • Document and share imagery projects in samples, tutorials, blog articles, videos, and help documentation
  • Utilize your experience with imagery products to ensure our solutions are simple and deliver a great user experience
  • Research and learn technical information from subject matter experts in imagery and remote sensing by working closely with product management, software development, and sales teams throughout the development and release process
  • Synthesize information gathered from subject matter expert interviews to write and create documentation
  • Monitor user responses to forum posts, blogs, and other message boards
  • Coordinate the imagery presence at conferences

Requirements

  • 2+ years writing technical documentation for products, developers, product support, or product testing
  • Ability to convey complex topics concisely, clearly, and effectively
  • Knowledge of GIS and remote sensing
  • Familiarity with the ArcGIS system; including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, or ArcGIS Online
  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, english, technical communications, journalism, computer science, or related industry is preferred
  • Portfolio Submission: Please provide a link to a portfolio or include samples of your recent work

Recommended Qualifications

  • Experience with content management system applications or technical writing tools, such as SDL Trisoft, GitHub, Microsoft Word, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat, HTML, DITA, and more
  • Knowledge of image processing and analysis
  • Good understanding of web application development and modern website design
  • Experience with project management or event coordination

Base salary is one component of our total rewards strategy. Compensation decisions and the base range for this role take into account many factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range is $66,560.00 – $104,000.00.
