Contribute to product and service solutions that achieve desired consumer, business, and organizational outcomes. Use a broad range of qualitative and quantitative research methods, including generative and evaluative research studies. Evaluate customer insights, identify opportunities, and help develop, iterate, and operationalize solutions to achieve effective designs and environments. Collaborate with cross functional teams throughout all phases of the product development and servicing lifecycles to ensure the right data is being collected to positively impact the product direction. Conduct mixed methods research to inform product design, which may include usability studies, heuristic evaluations, interviews, contextual inquiry, focus groups, surveys, user journey maps, UX health studies, and personas. Identify, promote, and pursue research opportunities that help Microsoft maintain its competitive edge and produce world-class technologies. Telecommuting permitted 100% from any location in the U.S.

Minimum Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Management, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, or related field.

Experience: 12 months of experience in conducting user experience and/or user behavior research for the design of software features.

Specific Skills: Must have 12 months of experience in each of the following: Qualitative Interviews; Usability Testing; Heuristic Evaluation; Reporting; Survey Design; and Data Synthesis and Analysis. This position also requires Education or Experience in: Experiment Design (A/B testing).

Pay Range and Benefits Information

The offered base pay range for this specific position (EG6172314c), based in Redmond, WA (but telecommuting permitted 100% from any location in the U.S.), is $142,150 to $172,150 per year.

Microsoft has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.

At Microsoft certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus, and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role. Benefits/perks listed may vary depending on the nature of employment with Microsoft and the country work location.
