The Data Management Specialist at Stella-Jones coordinates and validates Master Data requests for various business unit departments. This role will also serve as a liaison to the centralized Master Data Governance team based at our corporate HQ in Montreal, Canada.
This is a newly added position to our team and will be a Hybrid role working some days from our regional corporate office and manufacturing complex in Tacoma, Washington. The role will involve light travel (5 to 10%), including a potential annual work trip to Montreal or Toronto.
Responsibilities:
- Gathers Master Data from the individual business unit departments (Accounting & Finance, Environmental Health & Safety, Inside Sales/Sales, Legal & Risk, Operations, and Procurement) and consolidates and validates the data. Ensures data consistency
- Maintains a good knowledge of Business Processes and Master Data Objects (Materials, Business Partners, BOMs and Routings, etc.
- Ensures that all related documents have been gathered and submitted. (Ex. Exemption Certificates, required State and federal forms, other specifications)
- Handles the coordination of large volumes of data and urgent requests in a timely manner.
- Ensures that approvals from the business are gathered in a timely manner.
- Prepares Master Data forms to be submitted to the Centralized Master Data Team for input into SAP S/4HANA and Bluebee systems
- Assists with the resolution of business-related issues that prevent the Centralized Master Data Team from completing their processes
- Actively works to improve systems and Master Data procedures
- Provides ongoing support to the business unit departments in managing Master Data priorities.
- Addresses issues with stakeholders and applies relevant corrective measures
- Creates links and collaborates with colleagues to better understand the impacts of changes in processes that involve Master Data
- Attends weekly meetings with the Centralized Master Data Team and recommends solutions or improvements for processes, procedures, and key performance indicators
- Completes project work and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree
- Skilled knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Office products including Word and Outlook, and SAP S/4HANA
- Knowledge of and experience with business systems and software applications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Master Data
- Ability to work independently in a deadline and service-oriented environment
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion and professionalism at all times
- Attentive to details and accuracy
- Flexible, resourceful, self-motivated, initiator
- Ability to support a variety of personalities and functions in addition to interacting with staff at all levels
